We ALL have to face the FACTS.

We will pass on Geno and every other qb with the first pick and Alex Smith will be our starter for the 2013 season. We will look to draft a qb in the second or third round.

The only positive is perhaps Alex Smith sees himself in the exact same situation in KC as he did in SF. A backup to a second round selection.

Discuss.

It's been incredibly difficult for me to see this Chiefs team drafting Geno Smith.

Nothing against the guy. I like him a lot, I think he's Top 15 talent.

But that is just asking this team to reach for him obscenely over at least 10 other players that just about any team in the NFL would drool over.

Luke Joeckel.

Sheldon Richardson.

Star Lotulelei.

Johnathan Banks.

Johnathan Hankins.

Lane Johnson.

Eric Fisher.

Damonte Moore.

DeMarcus Milliner.

That is just so much ****ing great, potentially All Pro talent that we'd have to live with ourselves for passing up for a question mark like Geno.

I'm not saying "don't do it."

But you must be cognizant of how far off the beaten path you're asking this front office to go.

Drafting Geno would be a coup for this team, but I can't help but think of it as very unlikely.

You started your list with Luke Joeckel, which pretty much invalidates the rest of your list. He isn't even the best tackle in this draft.

At any rate, if teams would "drool" over these guys, we should have NO TROUBLE trading down. Care to put a wager on that?

Tavon Austin is the best offensive player in this draft that's not a QB

so who cares where he is picked at.

I would not wager on that, no. Even with the new CBA, the 1st overall is tougher to trade than a scarlet letter.

I don't see how.

There is not a single player that is worth the #1 pick in this draft. I'm sure some will turn out to be great, but not during the prediction process.

So what do you do when every player is a REACH?

You go with potential and value.

Nobody in this draft has more potential/value to the Chiefs than Geno Smith.

We pick Smith by process of elimination.

Might not be the ideal situation but unless someone in the Chiefs organization 'jumps up on the table' for a certain player then it pretty much has to be Geno Smith.

AND GTFO. Clark Hunt will be the deciding factor on getting Geno. Reid and Dorsey can't do shit without him anymore anyway.
