Tile Guy

So my step mother had this house built 7 years ago. Over the past few months, a leak developed under her bathroom. What we think happened is that the builder didn't put a liner under her tile shower, the grout has all come off, and all the water is leaking through the flooring.
Insurance won't cover anything, and the builder has been sued several times and keeps winning, plus has filed bankruptcy. So there's no barking up that tree. What I'm afraid is going to have to happen is that we're gonna have to rip out the entire floor of her bathroom (hardwood and tile).
The other part to the story is that my step mother is flat broke. My dad died ten years ago, and she's flown through the money (partially out of stupidity, mainly out of helping people she had no responsibility for, which is also stupid).
So I guess I'm asking...
1) can anyone recommend a decent, but least expensive floor guy?
And
2) any other advice?

I'll post pics in subsequent posts...

Ummm. In this case maybe, but then she'd need to stop using it so it could dry out. Otherwise it'll just continue on the way it is.

Yeah, she's stopped using it completely.

FRCDFED has a good point. Either the drain or around it, or the glass wall/tile intersection.

If you stopped using it days ago do you believe it has gotten worse, stayed the same, or better?

I'm just wondering if there is a pipe leaking somewhere since the shower hasn't been used.

Take the top off of the seat and look down into it. You will answer a lot of questions that way and you can just caulk it or grout it back in. Plus, if there is standing water in the shower basin you can help by sucking the water from under the seat.

It's hard to say. I know that sounds dumb, but new leaks in the ceiling kept popping up. So when I began to pull the ceiling today, there was a ton of water sitting on the material. So I don't know if all that water has just been finding new places to drip, or if it more leaking.

That seat is, as far as I can tell, solid.

She probably didn't like Phobia constantly flirting with her. She knew he was just after the money.

I'm working on a job just like this right now. We're double membraning the thing simply because the homeowner is paranoid. But she has money too. She's spending about $2500 just on the shower valves, shower heads, and handheld... There aren't even any body jets. But it's 3/4" pipe the whole way and water pressure will be like 18 gallons per minute. That's going to be one powerful shower. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm too busy even if she wanted me to work on it. We did do a great job for her but didn't really have much opportunity to display amazing craftsmanship because we were putting lipstick on a pig.

Yeah. Please understand that's her, and not me.

Similar to the automotive industry, we can have a transmission working beautifully, but when the rest of the car sucks, its tough to see the excellent work.

If you just pulled it down today, I think that you need to wait and see what happens. That's the cheapest route anyway. If it doesn't get better, and continues leaking at a good rates, it's probably the supply lines. I'm sure Phobia could tell you horror stories about shitty Pex style crimp connectors.

Do you by chance have access to the back side of the faucet wall? In older homes they'd usually put an access hatch in a closet or something.
