No, Hollywood would screw it up. The movie itself is quiet and subtle and builds the crazy. A Hollywood studio would amp up the crazy and lose the quiet and subtle nature of the first half of the movie.

Besides, the whole torture porn genre of horror movies has run its course.

I concur completely with this. It's a film that I think exemplifies the spirit of "What the absolute ****, Japan?" I also have trouble coming up with an actress that could play the requisite understated but absolutely bat shit crazy female part well.

"RIGHT FOOT PLEASE!"






I would, however, be interested to see a Kurosawa interpretation were he still alive.
