I like my Protect. Works great in tandem with the Nest thermostat, and can double as another sensor for better learning your away tendencies.

The founders and a lot of Apple talent that left to go to Nest did so because they didn't care for a lot of the other management- Jony Ive being one of the guys the Nest founders didn't see eye to eye with about a lot of things.

There was 0 chance they wanted to return to work under / with Apple

Apple in turn was rather pissy about employees going to Nest and expected some special unspoken treatment of refusing to hire any of their employees.
