Heartbreaking scenes...

Just saw a meme on Facebook and it got me thinking, what are the most heartbreaking movie scenes in all of history?

I'll throw a couple out there.

Worst in a children's movie: Artax's death scene in the Swamp of Sadness in The Neverending Story.

All-time: Oskar Schindler devastated that he could have saved more lives at the end of Schindler's list.

In 7 Pounds, when Will Smith's character calls Woody Harrelson's character (who is blind) and is horribly mean to him, just to make sure that Woody's character was a good person who didnt have an ounce of hate in him.

It makes me choke up every time, especially when Will Smith's character hangs up the phone.

The suicide scene in "The Rules of Attraction"

Documentry: Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father - I'll never watch that again if someone paid mee 1mil dollars

Too many scenes from "Band of Brothers" to mention. I actually wish I could enjoy this awesome series but it's like going a hike with your best friends and not knowing who gets murdered while you watch them drown in their own blood. It's too hard to watch.

That's about all I wish to recall.

Old Yeller btw

Oh man, that one.

My grandpa had just passed, and I was with a group of 15 people in high school. Hot girls, and everything.

And I went to the back of the theater and sobbed and went home for the night.

Just watched it, never heard of the movie. The scenes don't tell us whether she was cremated or not.

Not really a "heartbreaker" in a traditional sense but it took me 3 tries to make it through the scene in Casino where Pesci has to watch his brother get beat to death. I have a little brother so it was hard for me to watch

Also when that dude has the knife slowly pushed in him in Saving Private Ryan although that more pissed me off at the little pussy in the hallway

Speaking of Will Smith movies that weren't as good as they should have been, when he strangles his dog in I am Legend, because it was infected and about to turn into a vampire dog.

So ****ing heartbreaking. And - I'm completely serious here - was as nuanced a performance as literally anything I've seen in 20 years.

Slim Pickens' death scene in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. The musical accompaniment of Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door amplifies the effect. A beautifully heartbreaking scene if there ever was one.
