That and the best ones wind up in Europe somewhere because that's where the money is.

Pretty sure the US goalie plays for Everton.

Yea, ao I'm guessing the MLS generally doesn't pay as well as other leagues around the world? I have no idea how much the average MLS player makes?

Not sure on the pay but there is also a question of prestige. Though MLS is slowly climbing in that regard.

As far as that goes, I'd rank the "prestige" of the leagues as ...

England or Spain
Germany
Italy
France
then honestly I'd say MLS...

Hell we may have edged out France even.

Some people will argue for Mexico and Brazil but they are morons.

They dont get paid a lot. What makes it worse is there is a salary cap in the mls. However, teams are allowed to have 2 players exempt from the cap which they use to go out and take big name over the hill players from europe. Landon donovan was quoted not to long ago saying that Cristiano Ronaldo makes more in a year than the entire US team.

And the international kids that play soccer get so good at it because it's the only ****ing thing to do in a lot of cases.

Argentina has some quality clubs like river platte and boca juniors, but they falls off quickly after that. By quality i dont mean anything like europe, but good for the americas.

For the life of me, I just can't get into soccer. I've seen it played live in Italy with crazy, rowdy, fun crowds, and tried to watch some World Cup matches. I cannot get over the fact that you can run around for 90 minutes and NOT SCORE.

Other international sports like rugby is awesome to watch (and play). I saw a hurling match in Ireland and thought it was great fun. I suppose soccer is gaining popularity with younger Americans, but I will not devote any more time watching- just too boring.

Not trying to derail your thread, as I assumed the purpose was to drum up support for the World Cup amongst non-believers/watchers.

I used to be that way as well. Then the chiefs happened. Worse franchise in the nfl for the last decade. Since the chiefs don't give a shit about the team or the fan base. I have slowly moved on to soccer and away from the chiefs.

Yes that is all fair.

Impressive for a league that has only been around since 1996.
