It's a boring day. Might as well stir it a bit.

FTR, I'd prefer to sign Houston and franchise Smith next year while drafting a QB in round 1.

I have a dream...

The salary scale has already shot to the moon for QBs. Might as well just let Smith play on his current salary this year. If he can duplicate the 2nd half of last year with the a harder schedule and the same or less talent then he earns a new contract. If he doesn't then he loses leverage for a high contract.

Houston is holding out so we probably don't have much choice. If Bowe can bend Dorsey over the way he did, it's going in dry with Houston. Highest paid defender in the history of the NFL type dry.

I'm fine with that. This defense is total ass without him in there...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I say pay Houston, let a Smith play out this year unless you can get him at a lower price then franchise him next year and possibly the next dep on where we are qb wise then.

It's pretty obvious that both sides have gone cold.

You're pretty much always fine with paying the players whatever they want.

iirc you were one of the people who said 'just pay bowe and get it done'

now we have people saying we couldn't be active in FA because we are in salary cap hell

You can't just back the truck up without it causing problems

The only reason Bowe isn't worth the money is because he isn't thrown the ball. When he is you see performances like the playoff game.

Elite players cost elite money. No matter the position.

I don't agree with paying Smith reeruned money just because he's a QB (like some here do.)

We aren't in cap hell. We were up against the cap for stupid signings and none of our draft picks from last year working out.

But he's better than Matt Cassel and is the best Chief QB since Trent Green. Obviously, we should pay him twice what we payed both Cassel AND Green, and keep him on the roster until he's old and grey/ Bleacher Report fan.
