Coaching has improved

While the Chiefs did get off to a very ugly start, I have to give it to the coaching staff that they have shown some big improvements over last season.

I would say that the best, and the biggest change this season is the rotation of players, on both sides of the ball. Last season, Sutton coordinated this defense like it was a Madden contest with the fatigue turned off. We rarely saw anyone come out of the game, and in the fourth quarter the guys were just worn out.

This year looks a lot different. We've still got guys going full steam in the fourth, and even though we don't have the greatest players at some positions, having fresh legs can often times make a huge difference in the caliber of play.

Offensively, I haven't seen that much creativity with the playcalling and the formations since Vermiel and Saunders were here. I saw plays last night that Ive NEVER seen the Kansas City Chiefs run, and many of them were big plays.

If this is a sign of things to come, where our offense and our "game manager" quarterback can roll up over 300 yards of offense in ONE HALF against what was supposed to be the main strength of the opposing team, we have a chance to be a pretty scary team down the road.

Clock management in the 2-4 minute range is still God Awful, and I just cant understand why. Clearly Andy Reid is a smart guy. You know how long your plays should take to get communicated, and then executed. How you just let 30 seconds burn off the clock before you spend a timeout when you have an opportunity to score on a defense that has shown NO ability to stop you whatsoever is just beyond me.

The Chiefs are clearly still a work in progress, but Im definitely liking what Im seeing. Constant switching of personell and formations on offense to keep the defense reacting instead of attacking, and a damn solid rotation on defense to keep our guys fresh and able to attack even late into the fourth quarter.

Yup, and if we can get Harris into the mix next year, along with DAT.

Gonzo made his bones on those short crossing routes in the end zone. I'd like to see Alex gain the confidence to make those kinds of throws.

Kelce's hands were spectacular last night. He watching everything perfectly. Away from the body, perfect hand placement. Snatching it out of the air.

Dude is legit.

I'm not dogging his hands, I'm saying be consistent. Gonzo's mitts were as reliable as Goodell is useless.

Just sayin'.

Only Philly fans?

Because I spent a lot of time laughing at his clock management 'skills' too. Reid's clock management is on par with Herman Edwards. He's a much better coach in every area outside of that... but his clock management has been terrible as long as he's been around.

It's not like KC fans didn't see some of this last season as well.

Is Chilly still here? Is he any better at it?

Ried definitely needs to designate someone to manage the clock for him. He is hilariously bad at it. The play calling was much better this week, however.

after 15 years as a head coach you would think Reid would have some idea about clock management.

I agree, and remember, it took Gonzo some time to develop his hands too! I think Kelce has a TON of upside!

The only thing that bugged me last night was our CBs playing 10 yards off of the WRs on those 3rd down plays.

Sutton has gone from agressive blitz, press last year to full bend don't break conservative this year

Hate when we blitz but play with a big cushion ... it just gives the QB a easy dump pass against the blitz.

Agreed. Especially love that 2 games straight, we ran the ball a lot. That is pretty unusual for Andy Reid.
