Chief needs

just a quick look at addictions and subtractions and what areas of need will be addressed in the draft or later in FA.

Staying:
Howard -DT
Johnson -ILB
Berry - S
Zombo - ILB
Hail - OLB

Departed:
Smith - CB (Oak)
Stephenson - OL (Den)
Allen - OL (Tex)
Daniel - QB (Phi)
Grubbs - OL (FA)
Branch - S (Ari)

Acquired:
Schwartz - OL (Cle)
Massaquoi - OLB (Atl)
Obada - DE/TE (FA)

With the moves made as of today where do you go with the first pick in the draft? What is our biggest hole right now?

I think you have to go CB in round one if there is a guy available of a Marcus peters caliber available. I'm not sold on Gaines or Nelson being a #1/#2 guy. I'm also worried about WR. We need a good compliment to Maclin, someone who can step into the #1 slot and be just as effective as Maclin. I'm also concerned about our backup QB position. As we saw last year, good teams have capable backups who can step in and win 3-5 games and keep playoff hope alive while a starter recovers from an injury. I'm not sure Bray or Murray fits that definition.

Overall om pleased with Dorsey this is way better than any other GM since I have been a fan.

Thoughts?

Are there any 49er players that would fill a need with a DAT trade or should we just take a 5th/6th and be done with it.

But Amukamara has health issues. And I just read Heyward is a terrible tackler with great cover skills

I like the moves so far. With teams going insane with contracts-it is great we have a GM that is able to build this team and keep it together for another playoff run.

I completely agree Dorsey has been masterful. Stuff even Peterson couldn't pull off.

We have 3 years according to their new contracts.

I want to see us add some play makers on Offense, and add at least 2 quality CB's.

OL is a major concern.

I'd like to see us pickup OL Geoff Swartz in FA and OG Joshua Garnett in the draft to solidify the line.

Don't we want to get the replacement BEFORE these guys leave so that they can learn for a year?

What if our first shot at finding a replacement doesn't work so we have to try again?

better to start early than be late

If a franchise QB falls in the draft to us then you always consider it, but it's not a need.

We have a quality QB with a pretty darn cheap contract, considering the current market.

CB2 and WR2

Day 3 draft rounds can look for depth at OL, and more defense.

I had a dream last night that we traded for Joe Thomas. That was odd. Obviously unrealistic too, but it was fun for like 10 minutes.
