Why has Dave Toub not gotten an NFL Head Coach job yet?
Andy mentions in this interview that Toub had been drawing up, tweaking, and practicing the fake punt all week. And he called it up during the game.

I mean, this is just one of the DOZENS of astounding moments where we've seen his presence as a special teams coach not only affect but WIN games going back to his time with the Bears.

Yeah, he's a ST coach. But look at who else has come from a ST background in their head coach careers: Belichick, Levy, John Harbaugh...

At this point, wouldn't one think that teams would be more likely to dig into the resumes of some of these ST coaches when making hires? At the very least, why hasn't the best ST coach in the game for many years now been getting more than the one look he had last year?

It's astonishing that the guy didn't get a HC gig when he was in Chicago. He's one of the best coaches in the NFL at getting his guys to consistently play well and do their job.

Fans and owners don't care about Special Teams coordinators.

They want the "splashy" hire, not the 50 something first timer.

There will be a dozen guys in consideration this offseason and I'll be surprised if Toub gets a sniff.

He's 54 years old and he's guaranteed a job in KC for the next 6 years, minimum.

He's a guy that's moved across the country a dozen times in coaching life so I have to think that being in KC with one of his best friends is pretty much the penultimate.

That's what I'm thinking. From what I heard, he was content sticking around in one place with his family, and when Chicago let him go, he thought about retiring at that point. I remember hearing from Bad Guy on this forum that it took a lot of wooing from Andy to get him to come to KC in the first place.

I think the biggest issue is age.

We all have trials, tribulations and tragedies to face in life.

But at that age, it just gets worse. Cancer, strokes, high school aged kids, college, family. It's a bitch for those of us that don't move every few years, so I can't even imagine people that have to move at literally, a phone call or text.

Toub's dialed in with the Chiefs. He's with his long time bud's.

IMO, that's worth far more than money, which is all it is for him at this point.

But the kick return game is absolutely awful. He needs to make sure that we never return a ball and to just take a knee so we can get the ball at the 25. He should stick to special teams and never get a head job.
