I'm In the Gutter....

Or I should say "I'm Into the Gutters." Having my roof replaced next week, and want to replace current old guttersw with new gutters with the shield tops (gutter gard) to keep leaves and stuff from getting inside.

Anybody here had recent experience with any KC vendors? Good or bad experience? I'm all ears, sending out for quotes next week.

I know many of you have been up close and personal with gutters at one time or another....

Who should I trust my sludgy rain water to?

I have three huge soft maples, which is why I'm doing this drill in the first place. The seeds are a major pain in the ass, and there's hundreds of thousands of them.

Update on the great gutter search. Bachelor #2 was this guy from Gutter Helmet. This is basically a system that they screw into the roof line over the existing gutters. Guy was in to see me last Saturday and still hasn't sent me a quote. Also, I asked my roofer and he said that screwing this stuff into the roof would void my new roof warranty, because it would puncture the ice and snow sheath that they have to install with a new roof (new City Building code for roofs). So that's out.

Bachelor #3 was a Guy from K-Guard. Nice kid, wanted to talk Royals Baseball with me for a half hour before we got down to business. His quote for removing all the old guttering and putting in all his stuff for around 100 feet of guttering was around $4500, or $45 per foot. Which is insane. From what I read on-line, new gutters with decent gutter guards should run between $10 and $20 per foot. So that's just crazy stupid money for that stuff.

So I've got two more companies coming next week, Bachelor #4 and Bachelor #5.

One is the local installer of the Gutterlock Elite stuff out of Omaha, NE (that was recommended in this thread, thanks) and another is a small business gutter company out of Blue Springs. So we'll see what happens.

The new roof goes on the house Monday. I'm excited to get that done.

Leaf Guard said on their website that if I made an appointment with them for an in-home estimate, they'd give me a $50 restaurant gift card. When the guy showed up after about 30 minutes, he said his stuff wouldn't fit on my house without cutting up the steel siding. So he said he didn't want to quote the job. I asked him about the gift card and he said since he didn't quote the job they would give me nothing. I thought that was BS. Should I make a case out of that? I met him on a Saturday morning, usually my day off, and he basically wasted my time.

Did you try Randall Guttering- I think they are here in town. They have the red truck with the snake on it.

Another option is to go to the new Menards and buy the best product that fits your needs. They have great prices. Then pay only for an install- probably $500.00 would be fair. it will save you an upcharge on all the materials. Best of luck.

I'm not understanding what the hell the steel siding has to do with anything.

Having an experienced eye he knew the first few minutes by just looking at your siding/roof just from the ground, his product wasn't going to work and yet still took up 30 minutes of your time. Yes that is manure. It takes about 30 minutes to eat a 50$ gift card meal by the time you get it. Maybe you can get your 30 minutes back

The ends of the siding have these steel caps on the edges of the house. This particular gutter hangs down 6" from the roof line, and in lots of spots the maximum drop right now is 5". They said they'd have to have a siding specialist come out and saw a bunch of stuff to make their product fit. That didn't sound like a good idea to me at all...

They're coming out next week. I've had mixed reviews on them.

Bachelor #1: Refused to give me a quote. Stiffed me for a $50 restaurant coupon.

Bachelor #2: Hasn't sent his quote yet. On the phone today he gave me some "dog ate my homework" type of excuse.

Bachelor #3: Right around $4500 for 100 feet.

That's why we have Bachelor #4 and #5 coming next week. No good answers so far.
