DishNetwork (SlingTV) drops NFLNetwork and Redzone

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...u6?li=BB15ms5q

Just a heads up if you have Dish or SlingTv.

DTV’s cost/break even to bring on a new sub is now well north of $1,000. Dish is focused on rural, well paying customers, and have axed thousands in major metro areas that do nothing but churn out constantly.

You are right though. 5G is Dish’s future, and why the Boost acquisition is of #1 priority at the current.
You have a better handle on the industry than me. You're with DTV, or some other part of the industry, correct? Do you see any path forward for DTV to survive on its own in its current form? Are you saying Dish doesn't need to merge?

Add to the fact that DTV still has the Sunday Ticket contract for the next 2-3 seasons. Can't remember how long. It was auto re-upped last Aug 1.
Those streaming boxes come with contracts and monthly fees. The two things that consumers have learned they don't have to have and absolutely do not want. It's such a typical tone-deaf DTV move. They're stuck in the 90s.

What’s up with Google fiber? Did they ever start to build out again after they stopped a few years ago?

They were supposed to be working on some sort of wireless solution for their last mile.

Biggest change I've noticed since ATT took over is not being able to talk/bluff/threaten them into giving me discounts anymore. And I used to be really good at it. Now nothing. I threaten to go elsewhere and they tell me not to let the door hit me in the ass on the way out.

Yeah, my first couple years with them has been kind of rocky. Last year it was CBS during the playoffs.

The Royals and Cardinals have been on and off again.

Now when I turned on NFL network today, this bullshit and their message reads the NFL has pulled the channel.

We didn't have this crap with DTV for over twenty years. I don't see us continuing with Dish much longer.

Ditto. So when we finally did make good on our threat to change after 20 years, they could not believe it. We had several call backs from them and I truly enjoyed telling them it was over.

The last mile in Louisville was a mile to far. They were so deep in the red installing the infrastructure hey just folded up. They hired shoddy contractors who caused more destruction than getting fiber in the ground. Supposedly they have a new less destructive method and are supposed to finish. I think they are waiting on a different delivery method now. Once the get the infrastructure in the ground they seem to do a good job and deliver a great product with the best support in the industry.

I live in MidMO. Have lost Fox Sports KC & Midwest. No Royals or Cardinals. No KOMU for most of the year until COVID-19 came around. NFLN & Red Zone. It’s been a cluster****. Dish doesn’t give in as much as Directv, which is why it’s higher but worth it if you like sports.

Wish I could do that. I live in Denver and I also play medium-high stakes FF. Having Sunday Ticket for Chiefs games and Red Zone is essential. I have NFL gamepass too, but I need the games live.

When they called you back after you cancelled did they offer you any significant discounts? That I can possibly use for leverage against them, lol.

Shockingly no, but then as you mentioned, they changed a lot since AT&T took over.
I think they offered the Mrs. HBO for 3 months free but we were already so pissed that we didn't really pay much attention to them.

Yeah, the Sunday Ticket was the shit back when I was playing the lines so I get what you mean.
