Rookies were awesome today

Boy did Burt Veach’s draft class stand out today. This was pretty much the “Chiefs rookie highlight reel” day.

Clyde-9 yards short of 100 total yards but was nice. That play where he broke 3 tackles was sweet.

Gay-he didn’t have a highlight per se but he did a lot of the dirty work. 1 tackle was coming across the field like a bullett to get a stop that would have been a big gainer if not for him.

Snead-Dude had good coverage in the slot against. He lead the team in tackles, which seems bad but he came up and made some nice tackles.

Danna-Holy shit. A sack, QB hit and 3 TFL’s. My God.

Wharton-sack, QB hit and a TFL. He was in Tua’s face a handful of times but didn’t get a stat bc Tua ran or threw it away.

Townsend-1 punt inside the 20, a really good 51 yard punt and a 58 yard bomb. That 58 yard beauty was the longest punt I can remember since Colquitt had one I believe 4 years ago?

Unbelievable job by our staff this year. This draft class looks special.

Danna and Wharton were the best part of the game yesterday.

They were awesome, it was so great to see.

We are able to look elsewhere in the draft, and while these guys are on their cheap contracts, we are able to spend to retain our stars and pursue FA's.

If we can continue this hit rate in the draft, we aren't going anywhere for a while.
Veach is also a wizard with bargain basement OL. Wis, Osemele, Remmers, etc are super cheap for the value provided.

It allows us to keep our stars.

Although it would be nice to have Niang now, giving a full year off to recover from his injury and get stronger and be 100%++ for next year is good for next year. That's assuming he's stuck to whatever program the Chiefs designed to get him ready. Coming back too soon seems to be a common problem that doesn't always show itself right away. I wonder how many OL have had careers shortened by not getting fully healthy before they came back from injury down through the years.

Everybody went WTF at the Mike Danna pick. Said, "Well, maybe it's this year's version of the Rashad Fenton pick." No. He's better than the Rashad Fenton pick. That's how good Danna has been.

I'm going to stop being such a bitch on Day 3 of the draft. It's a 5th round pick. Who cares? The Chiefs clearly know what they're doing.

I've gotten that way about the entire draft.

When you're picking 32nd, the "rules" don't really apply.

Want to take a RB? Go ahead. Want to take an OL? Go ahead.

This team has exceeded expectations so much, they've got my full support.

That's really where all fans of this team should be. At this point anything they do has my full support until they give me any reason to think I should be doubting them.

There are exactly zero reasons to be questioning anything they do right now. It feels so strange to say, but it's absolutely the truth. 21 wins in 22 games with a Super Bowl included proves as much.

Yeah it's fun to enjoy the draft now and be surprised with whatever pick we make, now that we have confidence in our evaluators.
