Thuney looked as good as Brown Sunday. I'm not sure that keeping Thuney at LT, adding a guard, wouldn't be a better move.

Oh man, Darrell Williams made this awesome catch. We should just keep him and use him as a WR when Reek's contract is up. He's cheap and just as good....I mean did you SEE the catch that Reek dropped last week?

Maybe we should redo the word filter to use JakeF instead of Reerun

You have to look at how things are constructed along the entire line. We are paying Thuney big money, and Brown will also get big money, and here is the deal we can afford to do that since we have the rest of the line on rookie contracts for the next three years.

The Oline is too important to try and save a few bucks on. If this was the mindset for the Chiefs, then the Brown trade is one of the worst decisions in the history of the NFL, because we could have drafted a LT with the pick we traded away. We did the deal. He is either getting tagged or signing a long term contract. Quit dreaming about what you want to do with an extra 15 million in cap space because its not happening.

Um, no. They effectively traded a second round pick to get a one year rental for a very serviceable LT (with a second year option to tag) once things were getting somewhat desperate for a LT.

Even if they don't tag him, this is hardly one of the worst deals in Chiefs history let alone NFL history.

What options did KC have that were better than a one year rental at that point in time?

Although obviously they were hoping it would be a long term solution.

Thuney/Allegretti/Humphrey/Smith/Wylie at least keeps this offensive line so goddamn mean in the ground game that you will force teams to respect it.

Brown/Thuney/Humphrey/Smith/Wylie is a decently above average running offensive line, which no marked improvement against the pass.

My guess is that, on the merits, Thuney is not a solution longterm at LT; eventually teams will scout him and know better how to attack him. But damn he is a fantastic stopgap and I find myself wishing we'd keep him there for Week 18 just to run down the Broncos' throat and secure the 2 seed before we bring Brown back.

Mike Remmers needs to return at RT.

He went on IR in early November and we haven’t heard much about his status other than a recent stint on the COVID list.

It's pretty close to obvious that he's about to be out of football.

Remmers was invaluable for us in 2020 but a back injury is a back injury.

It sounds like another Mitchell Schwartz situation, from Andy today:

Reid also had an update to give on an offensive lineman who has been on injured reserve since late mid-November.

“His back is feeling a little bit better as he goes,” Reid said of Mike Remmers. “We’ll just see. He’s another one that is a real tough kid, like I mentioned with Orlando (Brown Jr.). He’s trying to get back, so if he could be out there, he’d be out there wanting to play. There are no questions on it. He’s still sensitive right now, but it’s getting better.”

That doesn’t sound too promising for a pending activation from injured reserve this week. It’s also interesting that it seems to be the back injury that continues to ail Remmers as opposed to the knee injury he was dealing with around the time of his placement on the injured reserve list. This could be a situation like Mitchell Schwartz last season with his back injury, but Reid seems to at least hold some hope that Remmers has a chance to get back out there during the postseason.
