A Level Headed Review WK20

Sorry for the late thread. I’m out in the middle of the Atlantic at the moment enjoying cocktails.

1. Chad Freaking Henne - wow talk about CLUTCH. 98 yard drive when the Chiefs needed it the most. Some were talking about dumping him in favor of Buchele. This is why you have QBs like Henne on your roster. Nails when thrust into the unthinkable.

2. 21 MPH. That’s what Pacheco was clocked at on his 39 yard run. Just absolutely beautiful run. Been waiting for that run for quite a few weeks. He just motors with those legs like I have never seen a RB motor. He is gonna be really special when he gets the passing and protection packages down.

3. Jaylon Watson . What an incredible INT to kill the Jags drive. 2 of the biggest interceptions this year have been from 7th round pic. The Chargers pick 6 was a fore shadowing of his skills. Vurt Beach has hit grand slams with his 7th rounds picks.

4. Defense in general absolutely stepped up and shut down Jax when we needed them to. Frank Clark and Nandi with HUGE sacks at critical times. Cook showed his immaturity with the penalty but I’m sure he will be fine with more playing time and mentoring.

5. Patrick Mahomes with the balls of steel to play thru the injury. not a lot of guys would try and push thru the pain to stay in the game. It shows a lot to everyone that Pat isn’t going to quit at the first sign of trouble. Kudos to Andy for reeling him in a bit and making him fix himself before permanently wrecking himself.

6. McKinnon is an absolute beast in pass protection to call him Pats personal pass protection is an understatement. He absolutely destroyed a Jax defender on a blitz and helped keep Mahomes clean in the second half. He is a must re-sign, hopefully his little use early in his career can translate into a longer career on the backend.

7. Offensive line. They were a little rough at the beginning of the game but as soon as Pat got hurt they stepped up and provided clean pockets for Henne and Mahomes when he came back. Absolutely solid.

8. Kelce - what else is there to say? Absolute beast, another record broken. Another step closer to 1st ballot HOF career. Stepped up big to be “the guy” the offense needed to get past a good Jax team.

9. Toney. Wirey and hard to tackle. This guy is legit a crazy weapon. He had some huge plays for us and seemed to get the extra yards because he is just hard to tackle. For those of us that wrestled - you know the wirey guy is hard to take down because he contorts his body in ways were aren’t used to. That is Toney. Swart Cheech with another grand slam.

10. MVS -has been bagged on all season because of low production. All he did was catch critical first downs. Today he caught a critical TD. I’ll take this all day everyday every year. It’s clutch and sometime you just need clutch.

Amen to point 10. It's a shame we don't have a set of OTs that allow PMII to look for him on deep routes.

Veach owns the the 2022 NFL draft. The only flub I see is Kinnard in the 6th. Pretty good at finding "JAGs" on other teams he gets for a bucket of spit (see McKinnon, Toney).

Justin Watson's one catch was a *really* nice grab on third down on the injury drive.

Skyy Moore is a complete afterthought at this point, just a non-factor.

Agree with all points.

Except… while the Mvs play was huge it was just 1 pretty ho hum reception for 6 yards. Good thing he was open too because he continues to show he’s just not good at attacking any pass that’s contested.

Man, I’m willing to give skyy a chance but he was flat out bad. Costed us by getting too cute for yards when we just needed to hit the sticks.

Still stand behind our need for better receivers. We got a good taste of what they look like when mahomes can’t create crazy plays for them. Imagine them without kelce. They’re adequate enough to “manage” otherwise out of this world talent on offense. But that was a pretty pedestrian performance otherwise. The first td was hugely mahomes and kelce. Kelce and Reid and Pacheco carried the rest.

Pacheco's run reminded me of barry sanders. Sanders had that bob when he'd hit high gear like each step was an explosion. Barry was smoother but I don't think I've seen Pacheco run that hard and that's saying something. CEH falls down after running into that pile.

After seeing the stats of their KO returner I was yelling for Butker to land the 2nd KO in the end zone. He didn’t and Jags got great field position leading to their first TD. Don’t know if that’s strategy or he just couldn’t get it there but teams like the Jags you put it in the end zone. Bills and Bengals kick short and hope for a turnover since they are scoring so much with their offense.

Bills KO return has been pretty good as of late. I don't think I would kick it to him if we play the Bills.

I know this is the narrative, but OBJ washed Arden Key all the way around the pocket to the other side even...

It's Hamlin good... If you can blatantly hold guys who are literally trying to tackle the returner two returns in one game aren't that difficult. Rewatch the returns, specifically the 2nd with better camera work and #44 for the Bills literally causes the returner not to be tackled early.
