The Chiefs already had a better season in every way than the DONX, so the only thing you can possibly do is bring up the past. If we do lose in the playoffs, rubbing things in will hurt of course, but not nearly as much as in the past. Things are much brighter in KC these days than in Denver...

Broncos Prepare for Indianapolis Rematch

Broncos face off against the Colts in a "winner goes home" match

I did some research this morning on second games in a season against Mike Shanahan. The results were about what I had thought they would be... most impressive.

In the Mike Shanahan era, the Broncos are 27 wins and 10 losses in second match-ups (in 9 seasons)... And a perfect 3-0 in second match-ups that happen in the post season.

After first meeting wins, the Broncos are 16 and 5 in the second game, completely dominating the rematch. After first meeting losses, the Broncos are 11 and 5 in the second game.

Since John Elway retired, the Broncos still haven't lost a beat in this area of second match-ups... Since 2000, the Broncos are 10 and 4 in seasonal rematches.

And in the Jake Plummer era, the Broncos currently sit at a perfect 3-0 record on the rematch. What's more, the Broncos have won by an average of 20.8 points in Plummer rematches.

The bottom line... If you're going to face the Broncos in the post season, you don't want to have met them during the regular season.

Bring on Indy, New England, KC or Baltimore.

I really dont think that we will explode, if we lose. You know we did get blown out a couple times near the end of the season. Losing would disappoint us, but not surprise us. However, I prefer to think that it wont happen.

See all you guys keep saying that, but I think that's gonna happen if we lose anyway, regardless of anything that's previously gone on during the season. Even if Denver hadn't even made the playoffs and there was no smack thrown around this weekend a first-game playoff loss would cause this board to collapse from the trash talk from opposing fans.... all this "watch out" talk is simply meaningless bravado by people scratching and hoping for some kind of smack material.... it would happen regardless...

I don't think so.

I'm not stupid, nor are most of the people here.

I know how bad our defense is, especially with Maz out.

There may be a few who are so blindly wrapped up in homerism that they'll be crushed, but I think most of us see what we're up against. Our biggest enemy won't be on the field - he'll be pacing the Chiefs sideline.

If the Chiefs lose, sure I'll be pissed off and dissappointed, but I've been preparing myself for that moment since the defensive death spiral began. I recognize that it will take perfect offensive execution and/or something just short of miraculous on the part of that fuckstick Robinson's defense for the Chiefs to survive the playoffs.

I hope we win it all. I'll be thrilled if we win it all. Believe me, I want to win it all. I want to pop open a bottle of Dom and blast We Are The Champions in the worst way. Short term, I at least hope we beat the Colts. But with this defense, and Robinson.... fuck.

I'm ready if it doesn't happen, and I'll be back for more next year one way or another. At least we've won the division, and unlike the last time, that cannot be eclipsed. The remaining AFC contenders are all excellent teams and class organizations. The showboaters, loudmouths, punks, cheaters and scumbags have been purged, and therefore the shame factor in getting booted by one of the survivors has diminished.

The only thing I couldn't have dealt with - the one thing I could not have resolved - would have been losing to Denver.

And that's not a fucking issue anymore, is it?

Ditto. I expected if we lasted long enough we'd have to face Denver and I wouldn't want it any other way.

But, hindsight being 20/20 the absolute best play of the entire fricking year was Harrison falling down and then getting up and running it in while the Donk's defense stood around pointing fingers.

? That doesn't even come close to how funny that was.

BB fodder for years to come. I'm guessing even Robinson has told his players at least somewhere along the line this year that touching a player when he is down is kind of important.
