So I'm not a huge comic book fan, but I grew up watching and enjoying every TV show and movie based on comic book characters.
I will need to see it a couple more times, but my immediate reaction walking out of the theater is that that was the best superhero movie I've ever seen. I really, REALLY enjoyed it. Really good plot, character interaction, action scenes and the writing was fantastic. I probably had more laugh out loud moments in that movie than any other movie that wasn't a comedy. Just a really FUN movie. The buildup to The Avengers was long, but oh-so-worth it. They met and even exceeded the high expectations. Thor 2 - 2013 - with all main characters (including the delicious Natalie Portman) back. Anthony Hopkins is also back as Odin. Filming begins in 3 months. Loki will be in it but reportedly won't be the main villain. Ironman 3 - 2013 (filming begins in 5 weeks) Captain America 2 - currently scheduled to be released 2014 Hulk -- nothing specific in the works for Hulk 2, but the actor who played the Hulk has a 6 movie deal to play the character Good stuff!

I appreciated the fact that Marvel could have just settled and made an average movie (*cough* Transformers *cough*) with these characters and still made a sh*tload of money but refused to do that. They aimed high. They hired the right creative talent, actors, etc.
They got so many of the small details right and made a great story......Captain America became the team leader on the ground, Stark was the "Lone wolf" at first who came around in the end, The Thor and Loki brother drama was great, they finally got the Hulk right and made him the star of the flick. The list goes on.....How the team doubted SHIELDs true intentions.....Fury was a commanding leader of SHIELD...they even made me care about Black Widow and Hawkeye and i honestly didnt think i would care much about them going in. Just amazing the work Whedon accomplished here. Its really nice to see him have this huge payoff success after so many years of being a "geek" cult god.

Can't wait to see this. If it weren't for a new episode of House I'd go see it after work.
Ah well... Tuesday night though! "Avengers" is MINE! And for $4 at Cinemark!

Scarlett Johanssen isn't really a super hero in the sense that I think of it (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America). She is a master assassin/agent of SHIELD. You may be aware of that but I just wanted to clarify in case you weren't.

Saw the movie last night. It was epic. I don't read the comics, but watch animated stuff when ever I see it.
In any event, the movie did everthing that's already been mentioned. Action, character development, comedy, special FX, all of it top notch. I would ask one of the more informed comic readers to spoiler Thanos for me a bit please. Just a basic who is he/it"? |

So The Incredible Hulk was on FX last night and I have to say Edward Norton cannot even come close to Mark Ruffalo as far as being Bruce Banner/The Hulk. I found myself not being convinced that Norton was a doctor or that he was a good transition to The Hulk. Norton did not have the same presence or mysterious genious to him that Ruffalo had in the Avengers. As has already been mentioned Ruffalo just looks like he could transfer to the Hulk. As Dr. Banner, Ruffalo exhibited much more of a believable and tormented side than Norton did. I am convinced that Ruffalo had just as much a part, if not more in The Hulk stealing the show than the writing and story did.
