The kid deserves some respect.

After todays game Im starting to believe in the guy as our quarterback. He just displayed a true testament of toughness out there and leadership.

To some people I understand its about him leading us to the playoffs and winning the superbowl in order for them to be satisfied...yada yada yada

Im not going to go by that mindset at all. I look at this game and I see the way he played and it tells me a lot about his character. We should be proud. We got a pretty good quarterback folks. That 2nd round pick we gave up was well worth it.

I think composure, toughness, and leadership are key attributes for a quarterback. Cassel has those qualities and I also love the fact that he plays with passion too.

However, I believe the number one attribute as a quarterback is the ability to respond under pressure. So now I don't want to jump the gun here and say he has that capability, but I will say, after coming back from an appendectomy and performing the way he did, is a great sign and a step in the direction towards performing well under pressure. So far so good Matt. Keep up the good work

Here is the thing with all this easy schedule talk.

This isn't a surprise. EVERYONE knew this would be a crazy easy schedule when they made their 4 and 5 win predictions.

Easy schedule or not, he's played well this year and deserves to be the QB of this team moving forward.

Generally, you either have a QB who is good enough to put a team on his shoulders when he needs to win in the most dire of situations (Roethlisberger), or you don't.

The problem stems from this: if people think he deserves to be the QB of the team going forward, then he is, in effect, this team's "guy". Unfortunately, if it turns out that his progress was illusory and largely fueled by the schedule, we be ****ed.

Or it could be he's a guy who is growing into the position after really only getting 3 complete seasons.

We can't take the chance that he's going to tank and start this all from scratch at the QB position next year.

Yes, it's a quality win, but to say their problems are basically cured because of one game is hilariously foolish.

The Jets still have issues. The Steelers do as well but no one likes to talk about them.

Who said it would be a surprise?

My own 4-5 win prediction was based more on picturing a much worse defense [-], and the running game we actually have [+], than anything to do with Cassel.

I think they have to at least bring someone in to back him up. I was assuming you meant that we should just let him walk instead of paying the bonus. My bad.
