May be going to jail for awhile
Actually just got out yesterday morning after spending a night but depending on the judge's mood I could go back for a long time.

I put my ex-wife's boyfriend in the hospital Thursday evening for slapping my 11 year old daughter across the face. She called me crying about 7PM saying he slapped her for telling her mom to shut up. She also informed me he spanked my 6 year old son about a month before that but didnt tell me because her mom made her promise she wouldnt. I went over there and confronted him about it. He denied it, then my daughter came outside and I could still see the hand print on her face. The whole thing got bad quick. I used no restraint and by the time my ex's neighbor pulled me off of him he was coughing up blood. My lawyer informed me that he had a collapsed lung, broken nose, broken orbital bone near his left eye, broken collar bone, and a ruptured spleen. I only hope the judge has a daughter and can be reasonable and understand my side. I go back to court March 8th.

I think one of the differences in opinion on this thread are this...Is this the "right thing to do" when you're distanced from the at the moment feeling? no, the right thing legally and with sensitized segments of society is to call the law, let the guy get a slap on the hand and be ok with that.

It's easy, from a distance to say, Yeah, you should have punched him in the mouth 1 time with half strength to prove your point. It's easy to say that unless you're a person who has blacked out in rage in defense of a sibling or family member or self defense.

I can easily understand how a "hey, I don't ever want to hear of you touching my kid" conversation going ballistic with 1 wrong comment from the asshole who did it.

It might not be legally right....but I understand.

I bet so... familiar with that feeling even though I was only about 15 or 16 and wasn't thinking jail... just felt sick hearing the ball hit and seeing him hit the ground and the coach come running. Ugh... not a good memory. Shuddered again telling it.

obviously you took it too far but I would at the very least rough him up a little bit ( not to your extreme) and make sure he understood if that happened again then it would be much worse.

A little intimidation isn't always a bad thing.
