Eric Berry

We know what it's going to cost to keep him. Question is he worth the money? Has this defense missed him?

I think there's a noticeable difference without Berry against the run. The pass defense looks similar though.

For a team in cap trouble I don't think Berry is a must re-sign guy.

Weren't you fired from your job as an LEO for beating someone up?

If true, I'd like to add that to your list of cowardly actions.

If you take away the very few who think Berry sucks, there's a more than legit question out there. I'm asking it because I don't know.

If Berry is truly the best SS in the league and DJ is a pro bowler, considering we replaced them with Abdullah and JMJ we should have expected a major dropoff. Why haven't we? I think Parker upgrades over Kendrick Lewis, and Bailey and Vickerson upgrade over Tyson Jackson and Mike DeVito (how much so is up for debate). Sean Smith seems to have improved. Is that enough to explain the reason why this defense hasn't fallen off? They've done surprisingly well given how much they've lost.

Keep in mind, we're not asking if Berry is any good. We're asking if he's worth the $10M he might have to get paid or whatever you pay for an elite SS. I don't know the answer to that.

I'd just like to see you post anything worth reading... ever. If that's too much for you to bother with, then fine. People have stated on here that you know your shit, and one day, I am hoping to see what the hype of you really is. You spend your time calling people stupid, but don't really add anything to the conversation.. which puts you right in line with people like 505... worthless.

Anyway, hopefully back to the actual topic. I'm way bored of you already..

You need to stop talking about the players on this team like you know anything about them. You don't.

Alright Captain Cumstain.

I already did this for you, you ****ing moron. I provided my take on the plays of Bowe yesterday, as well as the final play of the Denver game previously.

And yet, because neither of those results painted your Alex Smith as a supergod, you chose to not only ignore them but to continually make remarks that were so laughably incorrect, one has to assume you're LD.

FFS, you went on and on about how Bowe was running a drag route. Stills, .gifs, slowed .gifs from different angles; it doesn't ****ing matter. You're a ****ing idiot and no matter how much time I spent wasting in the hopes that you might make the resemblance of an accurate football related post someday, it would all be for naught.

There was literally a poster who said Eric couldn't tackle laterally.

It's just ****ing annoying. Every thread gets ****ing hijacked with either "It's a conspiracy, Bowe sucks, Alex sucks, or just plain, good old-fashioned 49ers fan dumbassery. It'd be a lot easier to respond earnestly to a thread if it wasn't filled with stupid things that are "Blackbob take on Brandon Siler-esque".

There's no point in trying to do lengthy breakdowns anymore. People don't care, don't want to read them, and the 49ers fans will come out in droves, effectively eliminating any kind of quality conversation (even if has nothing to do with their Smith).

How do you know there's no dropoff? Every game is different, every gameplan is different, and when you're assessing the work of 11 guys as a whole, it's not a very efficient way of assessing our individual replacement players.

There were two or three runs of 10+ yards or more in the SF game where I looked at the hole Gore (and I think one of them was Hyde) was running through. JMJ was either blocked out or nowhere near the correct gap. Both of those plays in my mind stick out as plays that Derrick Johnson would have shut down for only a 2 or 3 yard gain. The runners would never have gotten deep into the secondary.

Those are the kind of plays that show dropoff. JMJ isn't a bad player, but he's not Derrick Johnson. Because we're not replacing Johnson with a Vince Agnew-level player, the average snap is not going to illuminate very much dropoff from DJ to JMJ.
