If we're using Rodgers as the model here, it's reasonable to assume that sitting a season or more isn't going to yield a winning record for Mahomes either in his first year as a starter.

That means they'll have to base a potentially losing record in 2019 on whether or not to exercise his fifth year option with a potential strike / lockout looming.

1) Both teams have very little film on each other
2) Edelman/Mitchell are out
3) Gronk hasn't suited up in a long time
4) NE's front 7 has changed quite a bit
5) Kareem Hunt
6) Tyreek will stretch the field but how much will NE bracket Kelce?
7) Chiefs revamped run defense
8) Brandin Cooks. Stephon Gilmore.
9) Alex Smith is on a contract year with a rookie phenom waiting in the wings
10) TB12 just turned 40 years old

Almost every QB -- even the great ones -- need that year of playing time to adjust and start winning.
