Raiders Trade for Carson Palmer

Per Rotoworld, the Raiders are close to acquiring Carson Palmer.

On my phone, so no link, but what the hell do the Raiders have left to trade?

Raiders probably could have had McNabb for nothing. Vikings announced his benching today.

I saw r8ers say Carson Palmer was going to light us up. The last time Plamer lit something up was when he plugged in his Christmas tree.

Not much difference? How about an additional 2nd or possibly a 1st. Big difference.

If he plays this weekend, I'd say there's a pretty decent chance that Hali lights his shit up.

Leaving the Raider hate out for a second, this move isn`t as crazy as some are saying.

Fact: Jason Campbell has steadily been getting worse since week 2. At best he is a safe "game manager" but has been acting more and more tentative in recent games. He consistently misses his longer targets especially sideline routes which more often than not flair out of bounds giving the WR no chance.

I think a healthy Palmer makes these throws as he is certainly more accurate than JC. Palmer also comes here with much more talent around him than he had in Cincy. Hue Jackson knows Palmer and Palmer knows Hues offense making this transition easier than most other scenarios.

I agree that the price is way too high but the Raiders HAD to make this move as Boller is near horrible and there were only 2 hours left for the trade deadline. It is a risk, but most success is obtained by taking calculated risks. Raiders did just fine in similar moves for older vets in Gannon and Plunkett. (yes, they came at a cheaper price but..) Time will tell. He could be a franchise QB for the next 3-5 years grooming Pryor or he may go down with injury his first play of the game. Who knows? Also, if he sucks the Raiders are only out 1 first round pick as the 2013 pick is conditional.

Raiders panic. Good.

The only way this works out well for them is if he leads them to a SB. It's possible, I suppose, but not very likely.

The only similarities between this trade and the Trent Green trade is their respective ages. That's it.

p.s. you guys have 60+ million invested in that pocket sloth of a qb you have.
you are a moron. Are you really making fun of a QB that none of us like?

I can't stop laughing.

Imagine your team traded away 2 1st round picks... What is the minimum result to make the trade worth it? One Superbowl win? Multiple pro bowl type seasons? Solidify that position for 5 years?

Is Palmer capable of any of that? Even if he plays at his best, does he make the Raiders better than NE? Can he play that well for more than half a season?

The move has the potential to "succeed" this year, but the cost has years worth of effect.

Fact: In 7 years, Palmer has racked up 100 INTS and fumbled 42 times.

Does that seem like 1st round material to you?
