waaaaaaah,waaaaaaaaaaah

so first i was an idiot and wrong so you brought out stats but now you basically AGREE, but you just think it's a wise trade off

Self has clearly made the decision that the consistency of a basic 'pounding the paint' offense is better than the potential boom/bust of more developed offense with outside shooting. A basic bones offense leaves more time for concentrating on what Self really loves ... Defense.

That's fine, but it's also the reason we lose(if we lose) ... especially in the NCAA tourney.

@DraftExpress: Tyshawn Taylor looks like a steal for the Nets at 41. One of the most complete guards at this Summer League.

Summer leagues don't mean shit.........at any level for that matter.

Taylor needs to work on his shooting if he's going to be anything in the NBA.

You don't have to be an elite shooter to be a superstar at pointguard... and I don't think anyone is expecting superstar from Tyshawn at this point.

I'm not comparing Tyshawn to those guys above, just pointing out you don't have to be an elite shooter to "be anything in the NBA"

I watched the game last night on NBA tv.......he looked good....had a nice fast-break dunk/and-one.

That said, watching those games is liking watching pick-up basketball games at a city park. It's at 100 mph, tons of turnovers, lots of selfishness.

So you're now criticizing Self for developing an offense that is more sustainable and efficient (2 PT FGs, easy baskets) and less luck based (3 PTs) despite the fact that his teams are generally high percentage from behind the arc exactly because of that focus in the point. Logic!

Yes, it's truly a bad thing to focus on defense on college basketball. The fact that we've been an elite team defensively for the last decade is truly what's holding us back. Holding us back from what, I'm not sure, considering we've been the best and most consistent program in the NCAA since he arrived.

No, the reason we lose in the NCAA tourney is because it's the NCAA tourney. The tournament is a crapshoot that eventually knocks out 63 out of 64 teams (or whatever it is these days) no matter how good you are. KU isn't always the best team, nor do the best teams always win.

I think he can be a superstar. If he stays out of his own way.

Think he's capable of doing everything Russell Westbrook is. I don't recall Westbrook doing much at UCLA. Certainly not dominating like he is in the NBA.

And to be fair, he was streaky, but he hit some damn huge threes at KU.

2/3 players you mentioned are good shooters, with exception to Rondo.

Billups became an adequate shooters later in his career.. They were NOT good shooters coming out of college, they were great because of what they did with the ball in their hands. We can certainly expand that list if you like:

Steve Nash, Kyrie Irving, Ty Lawson, John Wall, Raymond Felton, Tyreke Evans, Brandon Knight, Randy Foye, Jason Kidd.... Point guards in the NBA don't have to be excellent shooters. Many of them have gotten better after being in the NBA, but none of them are great shooters.

The point remains. Tyshawn needs to be stronger with the ball to make it in the NBA... if he sticks, the shooting will develop enough. If not he'll be a backup.

you being wrong makes no difference to me, we are all entitled to our opinions. Just dont keep wondering why everyone laughs at you and calls you a moron.

KC Connection nailed it, so Im not going to go through the effort of reiterating everything he said.

Self is smart, Laz is dumb. Thats my opinion.

I plan on taking my grandma (who turns 70 this year) to her first KU BBALL game this year. She's never been. So, it'll be me, her, my stepdad and two uncles.

Dumb question --

It isn't harder getting your hands on 5 game tickets, is it?

When I've bought tickets it was normally 2 or 3.
