Is nobody even interested in this team anymore? Brady Quinn is your starter...

I can't believe nobody posted Romeo's presser yet.

At absolute best his ceiling is a serviceable backup, not even a good one, but one that can get you by for a few games.

We have been so starved for a decent QB to call our own for decades that it has warped our minds, I found myself really rooting for Stanzi too. Then I watched a few preseason games and realized I had my "QB goggles" on and had woken up next to a scud.
I still would like to see Stanzi after he got some reps with the #1's. If you go to this link...

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/article...f-bf1ab89d0d5b

you will find this statement by Quinn...

Quote:
There was some efficiency with passing the football, but still, there are some things that we’re still trying to work out. I think anytime you’re coming into a situation where you’re playing with a bunch of guys that you didn’t necessarily play with in OTAs, so you’re still trying to get into a rhythm with some of those wide receivers, etc.
I would take this to mean exactly what some of us talked about the whole preseason... Quinn and Stanzi didn't get any reps with the first unit. Big difference there.

Matt Cassel is done as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback.

It is over, folks.

Kansas City coach Romeo Crennel announced Monday that Brady Quinn will start over a healthy Cassel Sunday at home against Oakland. Crennel also told reporters that Quinn will keep the job for the foreseeable future. He said he didn’t want Quinn looking over his shoulder.

Cassel no longer has to do that exercise. He knows his fate. His tenure as the Chiefs’ quarterback is in the books. Oh, sure, he may play here and there the rest of the season if Quinn gets banged up. But if Quinn fails, I’d think the Chiefs would look at No. 3 quarterback Ricky Stanzi to finish the season. Cassel will likely be cut after the season and becomes another team’s backup next year.

There’s no way the Chiefs can go back to Cassel now. The fans demanded he be gone and there have been whispers the locker room wanted a change as well.

In the end, Cassel was a failure in Kansas City. General manager Scott Pioli traded for Cassel soon after he took over the Chiefs in 2009. A successful injury replacement for Tom Brady in New England, Cassel had his ups and downs in Kansas City. He was solid in 2010 as he led the team to a division title and he made the Pro Bowl.

But he regressed last season and he has been awful this season.

Of course, Quinn is just a stop-gap option unless the former first-round draft pick suddenly finds his NFL mojo. When he started for an injured Cassel in Week 6, it was his first start in three years. Monday’s move was more about the team having no faith in Cassel than having an abundance of faith that Quinn is the answer.

The truth is, the 1-5 Chiefs will likely try to draft Matt Barkley or Geno Smith next year and hit the refresh button.

The Chiefs thought Cassel would be the franchise quarterback, but Monday they admitted that dream is over.

Q

and if the bolded part doesn't come to fruition, why even draft the kid and keep him on the 53 man roster all year?

If Quinn sucks it up, Stanzi should get his chance, too.

Seriously, it's blatantly obvious that Cassel will be gone next year...what would be the point of even dressing him the rest of the year?

Hoping that this will ignite some fire in him like it did when Haley benched DJ?

hahaha

DJ has talent.

Most of us wish you all the best, Matt... we know you tried like hell as a player, we watched you in Joplin, we saw you at the childrens hospitals and various other good works... that is ALL highly commendable.

But its time to move on from KC, open a new chapter & all that good jazz... change is often a good thing, good luck.

How great would it be if the Jags get the #1 pick and we get the #2 pick......and they go on to sign Cassel in the offseason and take an OT with the 1st overall pick.

If Cassel is officially done then Fat Scott should be as well.

Fat Scott went all in on Cassel this year... refusing to re-sign Orton, not making a serious play for any other legit competition.

The Chiefs season is ruined now b/c Fat Scott refused to acquire any viable alternatives to Cassel.

Fat Scott doesn't deserve to select the next Chiefs QB.
