How is allowing two field goals to a team on the road struggling?

Florida needed a miracle to beat Podunk State today and they beat LSU earlier this season. Does that mean that LSU isn't very good?

If any two of the three remaining undefeated teams finish the season undefeated, then the SEC champion will not deserve to be in the NC game. Period.

If you're playing a competitive football game against a team as bad as Boston College (and that game was very competitive for most of it...they only outgained them by 90 yards), it suggests your team might have a few issues. Boston College isn't even one of the top 100 programs in the country this year. They're worse than Kansas.

While they may not be familiar to you, LA Lafayette rates significantly better than BC this season. A loss to them, while bad, wouldn't have been completely awful as such a loss would have been to BC. Florida, too, hasn't made a habit of playing down to their competition as Notre Dame has all year.

Any team that wins the best conference in the country should be in the NC game over teams that won in inferior conferences and with inferior schedules. It's exactly the same principle that has kept teams like Utah and Boise State out over the years (and I never heard particularly good arguments for putting them in).

This number 40 dude from Cal is just a bit amped. Every time I glance at the screen he seems to be in the middle of something good.

So if Oregon pulls it out but wins by 5 points or less, does KSU take some of their votes in the human polls?

Cal isn't a good football team, either, this game shouldn't be this close.

The rest of your post was typical SEC elitist bullshit. LSU struggled to beat a horrible LSU team. Does that point to their team having issues? The fact that you had to stoop to defend Louisiana Lafayette speaks volumes about your SEC blinders. I thought you were finally starting to understand, but I guess it was just an act.

I'm so glad we won't have to worry about this shit in a couple of years. Playoffs need to start this year.

Let's keep our arguments within reason here. Obviously we can't deal in complete absolutes (due to exceptions like the one there), but as a general rule, the SEC champ should be there. They're the ones coming out on top of a schedule that is far more difficult than the schedule of any lesser conference and they shouldn't be penalized for it.

I'm only defending them to the extent that their team is statistically far superior than the garbage Boston College team that Notre Dame struggled with today.

What am I supposed to understand? That we should ignore major differences in strengths of schedule and conference when deciding who should play for the NC? I'm going to have to disagree there. Record should not be the only factor.

That's fine, considering that Texas could be ranked #15 or better by December 1st.

If USC loses against UCLA, then that takes away the luster of the ND/USC game.
