I think the winner of the Big12 will get a #1 seed with a good showing in the B12 tournament regardless of record.

The selection committee doesn't look at SOS ranking. They look at quality wins and bad losses. They don't care if you beat the 385th best team or the 297th best team. They toss those games out.

Kansas will not get credit for beating a full-strength OSU, either.

When two teams play a round robin in the conference, split against each other, and one of them loses two more games overall, the team with more losses is not the "much superior" team.

If KU wins the Big 12, it will take that #1 seed. Same as pretty much any other year.

Two top seeds are locked up. Duke, UNC, OSU, Michigan State, Kansas, and Mizzou are all fighting for the final two spots.

Kansas has losses to Mizzou and Duke with a win against OSU without Sullinger.

Mizzou has a win against Kansas and no losses.

Duke has wins against KU and UNC.

If Kansas beats Mizzou and wins the conference, but Mizzou wins the rest, Mizzou has 3 losses, 1 or 2 wins against KU, and locks up the third spot.

Kansas would have six losses, so they would need help.

Kansas had MU dead to rights in Paige before a ref-assisted meltdown. Kansas does have more losses, but only 1 bad one. It all obviously depends on how the future plays out, KU could get blown out at KSU and at OSU and this will all be moot. As of right now, though, KU is a much superior team than MU. It was evident on 2/4.

I realize that basketball is new to you Missouri fans, but don't act like you're some expert on how the committee chooses seeds. [even though given your track record around here, you've got a friend or two who is an "insider" on just about every part of life] If everything plays out like it should and the committee is deciding between a 5-6 loss KU team VS a 3-4 loss MU team, KU will get the 1 seed. And this time it will because a committee put us there, not because our AD paid for the game. However, this won't stop a few of you Mizzou idiots from pissing and moaning about not getting credit for your impressive slate of victories.

MU impressive wins: Baylor x 2 and KU. MU bad losses: KSU and OSU.
KU impressive wins: Baylor x 2, Georgetown, tOSU. KU bad losses: Davidson and ISU (I do think ISU will be ranked in the end, though).

Should the game on the 25th play out like I believe it will, I wouldn't even count Mizzou as an impressive win. I expect KU to expose them for the Top 15-25 team that they truly are.

KSU is not a bad loss for Mizzou, KSU was ranked at the time of the loss.

I know there have been instances in the past where Duke has gotten a #1 over Carolina, despite NC winning the regular season conference title, and vice versa, when the teams were close in the rankings. Usually the winner of the ACC tournment got the nod, since it was the rubber game between those two teams.

I think if MU and KU are playing for the Big XII tournament title, the winner will get the #1 seed. The only scenario I can see where the loser would get the #1 seed would be if Mizzou won out, but then lost to KU in the Big XII tournmanet title game. If this were to happen, Mizzou would have the #1 locked up going into the game, as they would still only have two losses.

Lost of variables at play. Lots of games to be played yet. The only thing we know for sure is that winning helps your seeding, and losing hurts it.

The SEC winner is a #1 seed (Kentucky).

The Big East winner is a #1 seed (Syracuse).

The B1G winner will have won the best conference.

Either Duke or Carolina will win the ACC, and Duke got you head to head.

Mizzou has 1 win against Kansas already. If Mizzou's only loss from here on out is at Kansas (including the conf tournament), Mizzou will get a #1 seed with only 3 losses and 4 wins against top ten teams.

There is no way that simply winning the conference guarantees a top seed for Kansas.

Don't forget MIZZOU also beat Notre Dame, CAL and ILLI...early in the season and all 3 were or are ranked at one time.

Nothing impressive about beating Notre Dame by 28 back when they had their best player? Last time I checked, Notre Dame was ranked. That win, at a neutral site, is every bit as impressive as KU winning at AFH against OSU sans Sullinger. If Kansas had lost at OSU without T-Rob, nobody would be praising that win.
