Typical Mariners, they've thrown out a ton of money to offensive players numerous times and most all of them went there and sucked ass. Remember that year they gave Beltre and Sexson a ton of money and they both sucked ass there?
Wonder if this puts Beltran on the Yankees. |

Stupid **** teams will never learn about MLB FA. It's just amazing.

Well, as an owner of Robby Cano in my keeper fantasy league, I hate this move.
As a Royals/AL fan, I like the idea of a huge bat like Cano being taken away from the Yankees. He's now irrelevant. He thought hitting in that Yankees lineup last year was bad? Have fun playing in Seattle, buddy.

I wonder how close we came to matching that offer.

I really wanted to see our HR totals jump in 2014. Which RF-DH-2B combo do you see hitting more HRs? Aoki-Beltran-Franklin? Or Beltran-Butler-Bonifacio (or whoever else at 2B)?
I want MOAR power damn it. Butler doesn't have that much power but you have to look at the alternatives and decide where the power is going to come from. |

I don't get the Nick Franklin love, gang.
Look, I'm a prospect guy. I love minor league baseball and read prospect stuff fervently. Even if the Royals were staring at a 90-loss season and Butler was a FA after this year, I'd be underwhelmed by a straight swap of Butler for Nick Franklin. Franklin was, frankly, horrible, after his first two months in the major leagues last year. From August 1 on, he posted a .174/.274/.264 slash line. I'm an advocate of being patient with young hitters, but if you're trading your best and most established hitter, in a season in which you're trying to contend, you can't add a piece that is still under development and might not be ready to contribute at the MLB level.
