Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Anything new in the world of cleaning and maintenance?

Just found out yesterday I'm eligible for a special hunt in my area with a muzzle loader. I've been around guns for over 50 years but never got in to the muzzle loader fad. Recommendations?

That's the whole point. Place has GIANT bucks (a federal refuge). Only 7 tags issued last year and 3 of those took bucks

Do you know anything about dry gun oil? I have heard about it but never used it and haven't heard from anybody who has.

I use Hornady's dry lube on my carry pistol and my 22's. It doesny attract dirt or lint. I think it works well. I have close to 5,000 rounds through my carry pistol and it isnt really showing any wear. I have 10,000+ through some of my 22's and they look good. 22 ammo is generally dirty and CLP is magnetic to it.
I wouldnt use it on an AR. |

One pass with a boresnake works really well while the gun is still warm. I shoot a lot of cast lead and the boresnake to a warm barrel decreases leading.

Here's my next purchase:
The Remington 81161 870 Express Junior Compact Shotgun in .20 Gauge features an 18-inch vent rib barrel, matte black finish, synthetic black stock and fore-end, front bead sight, multi-choke (mod), 3 chamber, 12" length of pull, an overall length of 37.25 inches, an unloaded weight of 5.75 lbs, and a 4+1 round capacity. My son's 1st shotgun and will also double as the wife's home protection gun. A really nice little piece for the price! DT |

I use CLP and a boresnake on every firearm except for .22lr, for .22lr I use rem-oil and a boresnake. I have found the rem-oil doesn't collect .22 fouling like CLP does.

thanks for this thread CP posters, much appreciated. Wish something like this was on the OMane but there are just not enough gun enthusiasts to keep a thread like this going.
