SPARQ Ratings
SPARQ is an acronym for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness. The SPARQ Rating is a scoring system designed to measure sport-specific athleticism. The results from various tests in each of the areas of speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness are combined and weighted using a sport specific formula. The SPARQ Rating tells you in which areas you should concentrate your training and where you can improve. A companion system, SPARQ Training, gives the athletes a variety of drills, programs and information to improve in their sport. The sports protocols have been updated several times. Below is what is believed to be the latest protocols, however you should check with official sources. The sports that are currently available are: basketball football (gridiron) soccer hockey Previous sport protocols are available for: baseball and fastpitch contact sports / boxing The general SPARQ Athletic Assessment Protocols include the following tests: Vertical Jump Kneeling Power Ball Throw 20 Meter Sprint 20 Yard Shuttle Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test This is the complete list of tests that are currently used or have been previously used in SPARQ assessments, depending on which sports are being tested. 2 Hop Jump Shuttle Cross Pickup Vertical Jump (also One Step Vertical Jump) Max Touch Rotational Power Ball Throw Overhead Power Ball Throw Kneeling Power Ball Throw or Chest Launch Hand Grip Strength 20 Yard Shuttle Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test 20 Meter Dash 30 Meter Dash 30 Yard Dash 40-yard dash Sprint 3/4 Court 30 Second Endurance Jump Multi-stage Hurdle Jump Test Agility Cone or Compass Drill Arrowhead Agility Lane Agility Drill Bench Press Quick-Strike Punch Power Upper-Body Arm Crank Agility Jump Light Board

Sealy's Ricky Seals-Jones, the No. 33 overall prospect in the country and the nation's No. 3-ranked athlete for the class of 2013, has decommitted from the Longhorns and is now considering two SEC programs. Seals-Jones' mother Buffy told Hookem.com's Gerry Hamilton Tuesday night that her son, who committed to Texas on Feb. 22, had decommitted. Texas remains a possibility for Seals-Jones, but LSU and Texas A&M now appear to have a chance to land the playmaker. Also in the mix, according to his mother, are Kansas, Kentucky, SMU, Baylor and Cal. |

What do you guys know about Braden Smith? Sounds like he's the best player to come out of the state in years and had at least one parent who went to KU. Has he visited or made plans to do so?
