Chris Pratt Lands GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Lead
Chris Pratt Lands GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Lead
After countless shortlist stories and rumors concerning who would play Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the search for the lead role is finally over, and fittingly the actor is someone who never appeared on any of the aforementioned lists. Deadline reports that Chris Pratt has been tapped to play Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, a character who was born of a human mother and alien father, and is a master strategist and combat expert who wears an ability-enhancing suit and pilots a psychically-linked ship. As Guardians features a cast of strange and cosmic characters, Quill was an important role to fill because he will likely act as the audience’s introduction to the vast, unfamiliar Guardians world. Hit the jump for more. There were plenty of actors rumored for the role that made a lot of sense (John Krasinski, Zachary Levi, etc.), and Deadline notes that Marvel made test deals with Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne, but Chris Pratt actually seems like a perfect fit. His comic timing is excellent as evidenced by his work on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, and he’s shown his talent on the dramatic side with Moneyball and 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty, for which he also proved that he can beef up for a role if need-be. Looking back on the previous shortlists and taking Pratt into consideration, it’s clear that writer/director James Gunn is planning on injecting a good amount of humor into Guardians of the Galaxy. A rumor surfaced recently that Marvel was looking at possibly tapping Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler to do voice work in the film (one of the guardians is a talking raccoon), so I’m interested to see the tone that Gunn settles on for the finished film. With the role of Star-Lord secure, Gunn and Marvel now look to filling out the rest of the cast, which includes the powerful Drax the Destroyer, a giant tree named Groot, the aforementioned Rocket Raccoon, and the female lead Gamora. The story is also rumored to involve the villain Thanos. Expect to hear more soon as production gears up to begin later this year. Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in 3D on August 1, 2014. |

Marvel studios is on an incredible run. Kind of like how PIXAR was a few years ago.
Pretty amazing what they have built, and now every studio is trying to replicate it.

Yeah but it has a downside, too. It's now had three movies replicate the exact same plot: bad guy wants and temporarily obtains infinty stone of ultimate destruction.
It worked in Avengers, but both Thor 2 and GOTG overworked the premise. It's time to give the characters their own stories again. Stop subsuming them for Avengers 3. |

Completely agree. And I think IM3 belongs in the top tier of Marvel.
It actually does make you wonder how the hell Avengers 3 can possibly work. Lets face it, you're talking about a roster of approx 15 protagonists and a villain who will be dramatically overpowered. |

i mentioned this in an earlier post but my biggest nitpick is the makeup of the badguys.
I realize they want to stay true to the comic look, but why hire solid, charismatic actors like Brolin and Lee Pace then hide them under mountains of makeup? Doesnt make much sense and takes away from their acting IMO. Look at Loki, hes been their best villain so far, and no makeup. Just a minor nitpick.....

Going to the 11:10. Zero expectations, just going to enjoy a flick that looks interesting to wherever the story takes me, but pleased to hear such positive things.
Mostly I am trying to not fall prey to creating overinflated expectations that can happen when word of mouth and critics all gush and glowing over the "it" movie of the moment.

Guardians of the Galaxy
my review It's all about the ass KICK ASS,BAD ASS, SMART ASS... I went in wanting to love this movie and was not disappointed saw it in IMAX 3D so it was on a BIG ASS screen in 3D really made the CGI work loved the space battles, JJ you got some work to do (no flares, non) and Groot and Rocket really looked great on the screen Vin Diesel as Groot, did more emoted with 3 words than he has in the entire furiously fast franchise Chriss Pratt as Peter Quill, channels his inner Han Solo/Malcom Reynolds very well, it's good to have a rogue back on the big screen Batista as Drax, I have read poor reviews, but you know the guy is a wrestler and has done the best acting from that background since Jesse Ventura didn't have time to bleed Bradley Cooper as Rocket, this little Bad Ass is heart and soul of the team, I loved the crazy little ****er and yeah, most of his best lines are in the trailers but seeing them in context made my laugh Zoe Saldana as the green chick with the NICE ASS, her ass was in so many shots it deserves billing as co star she did a great job as most dangerous lady in the galaxy, but her ass had RANGE yes First in Black leather, then red leather, and finaly inna mini skirt keep an eye out for this ass come oscar time. It is worth a closer look. The villian knew his role he was there to get his ASS handed to him, and that's about all he did Beautiful eye candy, does not touc a brain cell in your head great time bring a UV flashlight and enjoy stay for the closing credits to see how true a marvel fan you are Natahn Fillian had a cameo as monsterous inmate think it was Groot's playmate
