There's nothing wrong with being the #9 offense. We all need to accept it, because it's probably the reality for a while.
I can’t wait for the inevitable posts about how we need to find the next Kelce. As if that’s super easy and we’re the only team that’s looking for it.

Chiefs have the difficult task of serving two masters

1. Being solid as sustainable for the entire Mahomes era

2. Winning in the here and now.

I trust Reid and Veach either way.

And when he doesn't because he's *just not that good?*

Again, if all he can get is a 1-year prove it deal, that tells you the story of what the league thinks of him.

Y'all just assume he's gonna be a monster because, well, Mahomes.

There's another side to that, as we've seen with Toney, Moore, James, etc.

You either pay for the most talent, or you make a cheaper option (I'm still gonna bang the drum for DPJ) work for you.

But man, these middle ground/half measures are not attractive to me at all.
Ridley is probably more talented but that dude looked like shit for part of the season last year and I don’t know why. He would have games where he didn’t do dick. Drops. Mental shit. And then he would have games where he looked like a true WR1.

Yeah we don't need to break the bank.

It's mostly the people that point out our offensive decline. It's just so expensive to spend on good WR's these days, and we don't have that money anymore.

Cheap vets and the draft is the way.

I wasn’t impressed with Ridley last season. Had him on my fantasy team so followed him quite closely and watched a decent amount. Lots and lots of targets, but had drops and never seemed to be consistent. I’m not saying he’s a bum, but he’s not some sort of superstar in my opinion.

Yep.

This offense is gonna look varying stages of different over rest of Mahomes' career. All depends on how fast/slow Kelce ages.

Toney is Toney. Talented but got in his own head…and is often injured.
Moore shouldn’t have been picked where he was and sucks.
James got hurt and just never got in a rhythm with Mahomes. I wouldn’t be against bringing him back to give it another go.

This is exactly right. I’d be concerned paying him a huge deal.

I don’t think we’re as nearly far away from being the best offense again as people think. We have Reid and mahomes. I mean, at bare minimum we need guys who can do basic things. Like run a simple route or catch a ball that isn’t directly in your breadbasket. Or a speed option who isn’t running cardio 99% of the game.

At bare minimum those are simple things to fix. If you get even halfway decent guys to fill those roles… people will quickly forget that we ever doubted the potential of this offense.

I've said similar things here last year and this winter.

He's a helluva lot closer to superstar than he is to bum. The kid oozes talent.

Took a year off, new team and still put up 1000+ yards in an offense that spread the ball around A LOT.

Won't be disappointed if we get him, honestly won't be disappointed if we don't. Money is the factor with him.

That and I think he wants to go back to Jacksonville.

I don’t believe that. I believe it would be him turning down money and years now to get a bigger payday later. There’s zero chance his only options are one year deals right now. His floor is probably the Davis contract.

I would like to see him focus more on avoiding turnovers in the regular season. He’s capable of it. Just 2 turnovers in 7 Playoff games the last 2 seasons, but 28 turnovers in 33 regular season games. He would only have around 4-5 turnovers per year in the regular season if he could find a way to bring that Playoff focus all the time.
