Of course Beltran went to the Yanks instead of the Royals.
Always the bridesmaid....never the bride.

I would suspect Hochevar and possibly a B or B+ prospect would get that done. They have no interest in our bats. |

Matt Kemp is a weird player. His defense is not very good, so we're talking about someone who would be just adequate in our RF and he'll either be good or not based only on his bat. (Woah wait, this guy won 2 gold gloves in CF? Really?!?)
Offensively he's just all over the place, some incredible MVP-type years, some all-star years, and some "meh" years. He's also scheduled to get paid way too damned much money, so the Dodgers would have to eat a lot of that contract.

I’d take Nick Franklin if Seattle wants to trade him on the cheap.
Don’t think that is going to happen though. Seattle still values their former 1st round pick pretty highly when it comes to trading. I would not trade Billy Butler for him. Last year Franklin started out pretty good but the months of July and August were terrible for him. He had a .107 AVG with a .194 OBP in the month of August. On the plus side for Nick, he’s only 22 years old, he’s only been in the majors for 102 games, he played SS and 2B in the minors, and in 4 years in the minors he batted .287 and hit 46 home runs. On the negative, he struck out a lot even in the minors. In 394 games he struck out 338 times. |

The #Dbacks were indeed the mystery team who offered the 3-yr, $48 million deal for Carlos Beltran as @nickpiecoro reported. |

Beltran would have been fine, but I'm glad we didn't give up the pick for him.

The $$ numbers never made a lot of sense for him ending up in KC. The only way would have been if LA ate a huge chunk of his remaining salary, and that would only have happened if we were giving up quite a bit of talent in return- which I think everyone would agree would have been a completely horrible move for this organization!

The thing is about Kemp, he has been suffering some kind of injuries, and he hasn't lived up to his 2011 form. I don't think Kemp will ever come close to his 2011 form, in my opinion, and the money involved in him? That's a big contract, unless the Dodgers would be willing to eat 5/8ths of it for the Royals, I don't think Kemp is coming to Kansas City.

So Beltran takes less money to avoid the Royals and the yanks probably sign infante away from us.
Here is to hoping they miss the party drain yet again. Any chance they end up having to pay Arod's salary?

Why do I have the feeling we are going to miss out on getting another bat for this lineup?
