Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

I think the NYC assault weapon ban is any rifle that has ANY of those features. |

Alright, back to our happy place.
Has anyone did their own bullet casting? They probably would only be worth doing in pistols since lead can only go a certain velocity before.....well, you know. |

I replaced my flash hider with a compensator for a while. Made absolutely no difference in my shooting, but it did make my rifle as loud as a shotgun and blasted that cat-piss ammonia smell sideways in each direction, which really annoyed the people shooting next to me. Replaced it with a different flash hider.
Looked scary, though. I'm sure Feinswine would not approve. Although she might enjoy the cat piss smell. |

I just got my first rifle at the last gun show here in KC. I was looking at a black stock SKS, fairly beat up, but OK, at a dealer's table for $500. A guy walked up behind me and said he'd make me a deal, he had a nice looking Norinco with a scope, bought it from him for 400.
I had only been there for 10 minutes so I was a little nervous I would see a better deal later on, but I didn't. I think I got the best SKS at the show that day. I know they used to be cheaper but $400 for one that is in decent shape seems to be the going rate. Shot it a couple weeks ago, very fun to shoot, of course the scope wasn't anywhere near accurate, and the bayonet screw fell out, which we couldn't find. I got home and took the scope off, but the takedown latch had been replaced with just a bolt. I found the website buymilsurp.com, it had a bayonet screw, with nut and washer this time, and a new takedown lever for about $16 including shipping. If anyone needs odds and ends for SKS's, and I'm sure AK's and probably a lot of other rifles, that is a good place to go. Now I need some more ammo, but I'm not even going to bother going all the way up to the gun show tomorrow, don't want to drive that far, fight the crowd, and pay $10 to be disappointed with no ammo. |
