Why Manning ruled out KC...

Apparently, teams were pre-qualified by Manning prior to any visits. When Condon was contacted by the 12 teams, he told them that the contract Manning was starting at was 5 for 90 and going from there.

Teams either had to say in or out at that point.

From there, Manning narrowed his selections.

I was told this from someone yesterday, and then today on Twitter, a great guy to follow, Andrew Brandt commented on it as well. I was leery about what I was told, but this guy confirmed it.

The Chiefs never got past the pre-qualified stage.

Seattle did, but when Manning narrowed his choices, the roster had no appeal.

Just thought I'd post this since we had a lot of discussions about why the Chiefs never got a face to face.

San Diego has a better roster than the Donks. We're lucky they are still saddled with Norv. Don't kid yourself, Denver is a very flawed team. A nice step getting rid of Tebow, but there's quite a hill to climb there champ.

Okay, I will admit I did not read this entire thread. But really, was it not Peyton himself that said it was not about the money? Really Peyton? If 5 and 90 was the starting point, that sure sounds alot like $ to me. I had some respect for this guy at the start of free agency thinking he really did value a championship over money.....if the 5 and 90 starting point is indeed true, **** this guy. I hope his organs spew onto the grass at pile high...

Hi fellow Chiefs fan! Donks suck, right?

The Colts gave up 32 sacks last year, and the last year Manning played they gave up 16.

The system and the QB are the main reasons why the Donks have gave up so many sacks last year. When the Donks passed, most of the time they were going for the deep ball which takes time to develop. There was no quick passing game in Donkeyland last year.

Not sure why you think San Diego should scare us. They could barely beat us with Tebow, and now we've got Peyton Manning.

Peyton Manning didn't want to take a pay cut. Of course the money factors in, but it wasn't his chief determination. He could have gotten paid anywhere he wanted to go. This process was about where he felt the most comfortable.

Seriously though - The Manning deal wasn't about the money. Elway offered him a lot of money, but Manning could have easily gotten more from other teams if he wanted to turn it into a bidding war. From the whispers I've heard, KC turned him off because they went STRAIGHT to the money, when that wasn't where his mind was.
