Oh, he played poorly. Particularly after the Denver scoring burst.

But its intellectually dishonest to try and use that game as a defense for Alex Smith's checkdown love affair.

Is it? Is it really? 0 turnovers....2-0. 10 turnovers...0-2, including a loss to a team we beat today. When you turn the ball over, you lose.

This.

The offense did just enough, but the defense won this one.

I give credit to AS and the Chiefs offense where it is due, and getting Bowe a TD (finally) was great.

The running game did not look good this week, and this gives me serious concerns.

But still, a W is a ****ing W!

We should continue comparing a QB who had one lousy game and has also won 2 SBs, so maybe he knows what it takes to win in the NFL to someone who's won one playoff game in his career but had a couple of good games against inferior competition... and with no turnovers! ALLCAPS

Considering how the line blocked, Smith had a great game, IMO. He was a major reason w won the game. He made chicken salad out of chickenshit several times.

If all this offense does is throw short and run, defenses won't be afraid to stack the box and blitz/run blitz. They will crowd the short field and leave their corners 1 on 1. It makes what the KC offense is currently doing that much harder. The defenses will be more than happy to put 9 in the box and stuff runs and pressure the QB knowing that Smith's counter is only a short pass.

Start putting some back shoulder throws on our receivers for big gains, and suddenly the safeties are forced to pick their poison. Hell, Dallas forced us to change our scheme doing just that.

And don't give me excuses about not having the receivers. You don't need Calvin Johnson with a 5 yard lead to put a scare in the defense. Testing a 1 on 1 matchup can net you a big catch, a PI, or just enough threat to make those safeties back up or slide outside.
Is it a 1-1 matchup if there is pressure without a blitz?

I disagree.

Had our D played anything but great, this game easily could have been 2 td's in favor in Dallas, and you know it.

Dallas had 37 total yards rushing, and still only lost by one. Our defense played HUGE today, and deserve any and all credit.

Read back to see who if anyone is even comparing them. Just saying, he threw for lots of yards and lost.. again.

... and yeah, for shame to the KC fans showing excitement after winning their first two games. They should always remember years past with different personnel and coaching that has disappointed them and transfer that negativity to the present and future. Awesome!

Yes. Often.

That's my point. Teams are leaving their CBs on an island with our wideouts because they know its unlikely Smith will test that matchup.

You think Dallas is bad team?

You think going 2-0 is easy?

Guess what, we still have another 15 weeks to get better. We aren't restricted to what we are right this minute.

Sorry if you just want to look for the shit in life. I have enough stress at work etc...dont need to inject undo stress into my football watching hobby.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
