They were better in nearly every phase, until Roethlisberger got hurt. Ben hasn't been the same since coming back. This is all about Ben Roethlisberger, period. |

Cowher won without a franchise QB, then figured out he couldn't win the big one, got a franchise QB and won the SB.
I'm tired of picking guys or hiring guys hoping that they've "figured out or changed" the way they play. You hire a guy based on what he has done and that what he has done is what you want him to do. |

So with a rookie QB, they utilized the run game to limit what a rookie QB would have to do?
You are bashing Cowher for doing similiar things to what you are praising Haley for doing now to big Ben. |

Look at J. Fox.
He went to the Sb in Carolina with who at QB? Has he completely changed his philosophy in Den? |

Cowher won with Big Ben, playing basically the way the Texans are playing right now. The way the Seahawks, 9ers are winning right now.
I know we all have pinned for one, but getting a franchise QB isn't going to magically win SB's here in KC. You still need a good defense and a good running game, that can take some pressure of your QB. |

I'm talking about how over a 15 year coaching career, the only time he had a QB throw over 3,500 yards was in his final season as a coach. A year where Ben ended up with an 18 TD/23 INT ratio. It's not nearly the same as Haley, who was on pace to have his most productive season before injury from a yardage standpoint. Haley didn't create a run first offense, just an offense that relies more on checkdowns than letting Ben freelance on broken plays.

Haley's screens and checkdowns are an extension of his running game, so get outta here with that shit.

I thought Schaub was having a good year. admittedly, I haven't looked at his stats though.
just seem to recall them having a good offesne beyond Foster.

I just figured it out.
Polian for GM. Kelly for HC. Gaily for OC. Sign Vick. Draft Smith. Print'em.

It's not shit. Again, Ben was on pace to have his most productive season as a QB (well over 4,000 yards) before injury. Ben was NOT a game manager this season. He was a game manager under Cowher except for 2006.

Cowher showed he could win with and without a franchise QB. He's not going to be the OC or the DC, I want his football knowledge and leadership as the HC.
And with the Chiefs first pick and Clarks demanding, whoever we hire will likely be forced into a QB with the first pick, so we won't likely have to see them try to win without a franchise QB. |

Not really - he's been turned into more of a "game manager" type QB. The Texans offense has suffered this year because they're not running the ball as well. They REALLY miss Brisiel and Winston on the right side of thier OL and they really have never replaced Vainta Leach at FB. No play-action and no other real threat in the passing game other than Andre Johnson is hurting them. They have become a very conservative offensive team. They settle for field goals instead of going for TD's. They will only go as far as thier defense will take them and it hasn't been the same without Cushing. If they have a strong defense - they can get by with what they have offensively. Once Schaub has to "win it" for them - they're dead.
