Bucs not planning to extend Josh Freeman
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...mans-contract/
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs won’t be extending Freeman’s contract, which expires after the 2013 season. And as Stroud explains it, the decision not to sign Freeman to a new deal could be part of a plan by coach Greg Schiano, who inherited Freeman, to get his own quarterback. And Freeman may change Schiano’s mind only by playing so well this season that Freeman leaves the Bucs with no other option than to use the franchise tag or sign him to a long-term deal. One possibility would be to apply the non-exclusive tag and to see if anyone is willing to sign Freeman to an offer sheet and give up a pair of first-round picks. That would enable the Bucs to pull a reverse Keyshawn, giving up a player and getting two first-round picks 14 years after they gave up two first-round picks to get Keyshawn Johnson from the Jets. The Bucs likely would settle for less, since the alternative will be to let Freeman walk away. |

I like Freeman and all but if you make that move to bring him here you are placing an epic amount of pressure on him. You're asking the hometown boy to come home and lead the team back to prominence, that's insane level pressure.

Thanks, hawkchief. You've opened my eyes. I don't know if Geno is going to be good or not. We should just shut up and wait to see if he's good rather than play the "internet tough guy routine" that makes you so squeamish. Let's be reasonable, people. Let's stop making predictions. Let's stop debating. Let's stop talking about football. Let's just stop posting on Chiefs Planet altogether. Hawkchief said so. |

And Wilson can do everything Geno can. His accuracy is just as good, his leadership and maturity is better, his mobility is just as good as Geno, keeps his eyes downfield and stands tall in the pocket just like Geno. Oh and he's said to have an amazing football IQ.
Both have things they need to work on, but I still like Wilson more. |

Might want to scratch Te'o off your list of players to draft at 13 if we do this Freeman trade.
Dude has no speed or agility. It's like Mike Maslowski and Tim Tebow had a baby. |

If that deal happens I'd expect WR at 13.

I can't believe you're making such a big deal out of this first read bullshit. What's next? Geno doesn't get enough fruits and veggies in his diet? |

this is a joke, right?
if freeman were coming out in this class he'd be the 4th QB on the board, at best, and people would be crying their vaginas out about drafting him.... in the last two years he has a sub 60% completion rating and an almost 1/1 td/int ratio...

Freemans arm and size would have him scouted high every single year, he's the raw talent scouts always drool over.

In that aspect, Geno is doing the same thing and that's trouble. And you can make a claim that all of these QB's problems are easy fixes for Reid. Wilson's footwork is very coachable. Even Freeman's fumbling is a very coachable fix. |
