Random Music Video Thread: B-Side
I have been asked to start a new thread for the new year, (per KcMizzou's request). Please pass along a warm thanks to this kind sir for starting the original Random Music Video Thread.
So, here it is, ladies & gentlemen... a new thread for the new year! If you have something that you think is cool, don't be shy, post it up! All Q's are welcome! Happy New Year to my friends on CP! **EDIT** All genres are welcome here, but there is a Country Music Repository thread for just country, (brought to you by the one, the only, Dr. Johnny Fever). I'll be impressed if anyone remembers this. Was Rick Springfield's last chart hit. "The Rock Of Life" album was awesome but it came when Rick's cool days were pretty much over and I believe the song topped at #22 or so. The songs on the album were more mature and generally serious than his previous stuff. This is still one of my favorite songs... of all time really. Love the whole "waking up blind with the house on fire" line.
Well I pick up my guitar (I tune up) I look in the mirror it's like a stranger in my hand (the baby is cryin) There comes a time when the boy must leave (get up) and the man has to enter for the soul to understand (all of the changes) As if it ain't hard enough this life I'm livin in I was caught with my guard down when the world came knockin I feel a big beat... the rock of life...

Nice. Funny, when I looked up the guitar tabs for this one I'm thinking Skynrd but I like their version better.

Wasn't Rick Springfield a soap opera star?

Yes. But just as big if not bigger as a musician. Like the song?
Here's another Rick Springfield song few people know. Warning though... to anyone who's lost a father it could be difficult to listen to. And sorry but the actual song starts at 1:34 on the vid... ugh I know. It's worth it.

Edit: It was a strange, joint smokin', good time back in those days. Just sayin'. These songs made a lot more sense back then. Last edited by Lumpy; 01-04-2013 at 11:42 PM.. |

Pot head.
I think in "my" day I did that to this song.... and all of the sudden it really made sense why Johnny hated jazz maaaan.

OK here's a fun little challenge. Find the song that was #1 when you graduated high school.
I liked Billy Ocean at the time but not this one....
