Here’s the thing about that Longhorn Network that appears to be ready to drive Texas A&M from the Big 12.

At this point, no one in the (self-proclaimed great) state of Texas is scheduled to be able to watch it.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Longhorn Network is still looking for carrier, which is odd since it is set to launch on Aug. 26. Not one cable, satellite or telecom carrier has stepped forward to sign on.

Apparently, Time Warner is the No. 1 carrier in Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin, according to the Morning News. Comcast is No. 1 in Houston, where Time Warner isn't a player.

As we know around here, Time Warner will stick to its guns if it doesn't like the deal a network is proposing. That's why many people in Kansas City don't get the NFL Network.

A funny note in that article pointed out that if a deal is reached, it's possible there will be a rate hike for carriers that pick up the Longhorn Network. How'd you like to work at Time-Warner in Texas and get a call from an A&M fan wanting to know why his cable costs more because of the Longhorn Network.

Sometimes these cable deals come down to last-minute deals, so here's guessing that some carrier will get the Longhorn Network when it launches in less than two weeks.

But wouldn't it be something if no one did? Then this whole A&M to the SEC mess would be for nothing. Even better would be the embarrassment it would cause the Longhorns.

If this all goes down, my only hope is that One4Thirteen doesn't anchor us down to some middling conference.

I would hate to be in the SEC. We'd probably never see ten wins again in football. We might do ok in basketball, but now that they have Haith they'd probably get owned in basketball too.

It's not what they have done, it's what they can do. aTm leaves for the SEC it breaks open the door for the SEC on the Texas recruiting area for them.

And Texas sure as hell doesn't want that to happen.

Disagree about football. I'm not saying Mizzou would light the world on fire their first few seasons in the SEC, but they could beat Vandy, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia etc.
