Nope, absolutely nothing even close for a SS. Taveras's natural position is RF but because of his speed and Cardinals need they are moving him to CF.
It will probably look something like this. Carpenter 3B Taveras CF Holliday LF Craig RF Molina C Adams 1B New SS Wong 2B Pitcher

I think you gotta keep Beltran around. If you don't, with the money we're gonna have, I wouldn't be terribly upset if they decided to put Otav in RF, and go CF shopping.

Tulowitzki fills a hole in the lineup and on the field. The Cardinals have three bats that profile in right: Craig, Beltran, and Taveras. You *can* shift Taveras to center, but it's not optimal. Signing Peralta is just a dumb shit move, period. Signing Drew now costs the team a draft pick. There is almost no chance of that happening. Trading for Stanton costs more in prospects than would Tulowitzki while still leaving two gaping holes in your MIF. If the team is going to move Carpenter to third they need to add significant offensive value to the infield, because his bat does not profile as well at third, where he would be a good hitter, compared to second, where he was the best offensive 2B outside of Cano this year. Trading for Stanton would be a Cubs move. Ultiamtely, Tulowitzki + Beltran > Stanton + Drew and would cost fewer prospects.

CF shopping is expensive. Chin so so and Elksberry are going to make $15-20 million a year for 4-5 years at least.

You make the QO to Beltran, which is 1/14, then you offer him 2/$22 once he turns it down. If he does, you take the pick and move on.
We have internal options for the OF. I'm not concerned about getting a starter out there. However, I think the Cardinals would be wise to target a guy like Young who has a history of hitting LHP well and plays good OF defense. His SB numbers have also declined of late, but he still has some running ability as well. They could also target Franklin Guiterrez. He can't stay healthy, but as a part time player he also offers good pop from the right side of the plate. The Mariners just bought him out today. Choo is a RF in actuality. He was a worse defensive CF than Jay last year. I see him going to Boston. Long term, Piscotty looks capable of being a 15/15 guy and with his speed and arm he should develop into a very good defensive OF.

If you were to make a deal for Tulo, would you be at all interested in trying to bring dexter fowler back in said trade?
And I know it's not the cardinal way, but would you entertain buying low on starlin Castro? I'd still really like to see... Carpenter Beltran Tulo Holliday Craig Yadi Tavares Wong P |

Indeed.
I don't see him lasting more than a couple years in Chicago if he continues to have down years like 2013 with Baez coming up, but he wont come "cheap." Better be willing to part with a couple top arms in that bullpen. |

For a couple top bullpen arms, I'd be going after a much higher profile ss than Castro

The Cubs have a rapid riser at short. They are likely going to look to move Castro to another position or trade him. I can't imagine the Cubs swinging a deal with us, though.
The A's and O's might listen to offers for Lowrie and Hardy respectively, but we would likely overpay.
