I'd prefer Embiid to come back, because I want Wiggins to be a pro. I think it looks bad for the program to have such a hyped recruit and he doesn't go one and done.

Embiid wasn't even highly ranked as a recruit, and his coming back for utter domination would only further enhance the program's lineage of killer big men and Bill Self's legacy as a scouter and developer of talent.

He just has a stress fracture. Another offseason strength training to get some more weight on him and he will be fine

Actually, Embiid was the #1 Center recruit by ESPN... most had him as the #2 ranked center... He was also the RCSI #16 overall recruit for the class of 2013. Everyone had him as a Five star blue chip recruit... How is that not highly ranked?

Let me clarify.

Embiid wasn't the highly-recruited, hyped-up player that Wiggins, Parker, and Randle were. Those guys were known about for years. They were being dissected two years, three years before they were ever ready to commit.

Embiid showed up, was a "raw, developmental guy."

NO ONE expected him to be as polished as he was offensively when the season began. Yes, he was highly ranked by the end of his recruitment, but he sure as hell didn't start there. And everyone expected him to be a two year player at least. Certainly not the top pick after his freshman year.

But yeah, he was in the Nike Hoop summit and the adidas nationals and on the circuit. But his rise has been mercurial. It hasn't been the foregone conclusion that parker, randle, wiggins, gordon, and I'd say even Exum have been.

It's similar to Tyler Ennis. He started the year as a blue chip prospect, but he wasn't on the "Freshman Tracker" sidebar anywhere. He was added, along with Embiid, sometime around the start of conference play.

There are the same folks who called our 2012 NCAA finalist "overachievers". When we finished 4th in Pomeroy and 3rd in Sagarin. WIth the runner up POY and nothing but 4-5 stars in our main rotation.

Scott Drew and his Baylor Bears with a 16 point first half. Rather impressive.

We should probably see if he'd leave Waco and come to Lawrence.
