HBO has given the production order.

They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES.

It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass.

It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series.

More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already.

Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn.

One of the guys in my gaming group just bought the pen and paper RPG for Song of Ice and Fire. It sounds pretty cool, and we're probably going to start up a campaign before long if we ever finish our current 4E sessions.

Breaking down the preview parts:

Beginning, where they behead the runaway black.

Deanarys with some big buff dude.

Jamie and crew drawing swords on Ned and crew after the Imp was taken captive.

Some talking

Imp being taken at the inn

Daenarys with one of her ladies

Cersei? talking to Ned

Ned fighting against the Lannisters from when they drew swords earlier

Jon

Imp slapping Joffrey? Must be him with the colors he wears.

Melee at the tournament, I assume the one Sansa is at where Loras give her a rose

Some chick getting it on. Looks like the Imp on bottom maybe...perhaps a flashback of he and his first wife

Can't tell where the fighting is...thought perhaps the wall, but I don't see a lot of black.



Anyone see it different?

If I hadn't read the books, there are parts that may have seen me throwing something through my TV screen if it I was caught offguard. I saw one scene in that clip where Arya was up on a column overlooking a large gathering that made some angry feeling stir as it was.
