Trying to think of a bakery name...

Mrs. FMB! is starting to freelance some baking projects, mostly desserts - cookies, cakes, cupcakes mostly. We're trying to think of a name for this little side business. Most everything we've come up with is taken (using NameCheck). I'm turning to the creative genious of CP for help. Don't let me down, fellas.

Here's a couple of her cakes...

The problem with so many of these suggestions is they're already taken by other bakeries...

Are you relying on that "name check" site to tell you this? If so, follow the links for the ones that say "taken." Several go to nothing at all but a suggestion to log in and get a name and aren't really "taken." Just a google search for several of the names tells you most of what you need to know. If they are at all relevant, they'll show up. There's a few listed here I couldn't find anywhere as actually taken.

As an FYI, the latest estimate nationally is that there are 10,618 bakeries in the nation if you include tortilla manufacturing, and 10,260 if you exclude the tortilla shops. You're not going to come up with a name that's not taken that includes any reasonable play on baking words. You'll have to either name it and assume that some small bakery in Sacramento won't come after you, or you'll have to pick some random words like "Clawfoot Fuji Bakery".

I think you are on to something, but maybe don't have to go to such extremes. There is a place in town called the Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop that seems to have followed the model (Bakery word) (Random word that works with Bakery Word) Pie Shop.

Yeast Beast Bakery

Yeast Feast Bakery

Dough More Bakery

I would think that it would be better to choose a name that seems to imply class, distinction, and excellence instead of a joke name that says you have the best buns in the city or whatever. The way word of mouth is going to support your bakery would be "Oh, their ___ is to die for", not "Did you hear about the bakery named ____?" that might make people laugh, but it wouldn't make them consider you to bake their wedding cake. You want to be taken seriously in the way you want to be taken
