This is my point. There is absolutely no reason this shouldn't have been clearer. Heck, as Dane points out, if they had called it Coruscant then everyone would have understood what was up.

Everything in this film is a rehash of ANH and TESB. It's quite shocking that it's getting a pass by mainstream media critics although alternative and internet sites have started criticizing the film and rightfully so.

There is absolutely nothing original about TFA. For some, it's like a pair of old shoes or slippers and for others, it's a complete and predictable bore.

I just saw this last night and I gotta say I agree. The story wasn't new. It was okay but kind of underwhelming, especially considering all the hype. Maybe I'm just more critical as I've gotten older but this movie was not that impressive. Wife asked as we were walking out how'd I like it. I said "It was alright. Nothing special, just alright".

Universal spent billions on the Harry Potter section of their park. It's made so much money and brought in new tourists and money that they say Harry Potter saved central Florida tourism.

I don't know about that. It certainly saved Universal Florida. But WDW was making money hand over fist before that with no slowdown in sight before Harry Potter was even acquired. The theme parks make more money for the company than every other revenue source they have combined, if I'm not mistaken.

Super correlation and causation issue here. The economy is still rebounding from 2008. It's not JUST Harry Potter that helped. Am I saying it was irrelevant? No. But attendance/revenue at Disney World was never in trouble. "Saved central Florida tourism" is overstating things a bit. It was never going away and was already starting to recover as the greater economy did. HP certainly helped Universal, though. It probably also is what spurred Disney to acquire Star Wars.

Well, they had reason to think it would possibly flop or that wouldn't have chosen the path they ultimately took.

The film cost $200 million to make and another $223 million to market for a total of $423 million before it opened. ATOC took in $302 million domestically, so there was definitely fear involved.

Plus, from a merchandising perspective (which is their biggest chunk of income, by far) who was going to purchase figures of old Luke, old Han, old Leia, etc.?

The Disney team made the "right" decision for their property.

The new wing at Disneyland features Episode VII and beyond, only. No prequels, no OT.

If Episode VII didn't make its money back, Disney would be looking at another California Adventure fiasco.

Well, that's only a rumor at this point. I would imagine that it's mostly true, but there's no way they don't include some OT stuff. They can't afford to alienate anyone that may not like the new trilogy.

They're aslo updating Star Tours to include something like 25 different tours but the new section at Disneyland is dedicated to Episode 7 and beyond.
