OK, now that this is over, can anybody explain why these two were stupid enough to get caught in this fashion? And if the story is true, why they would actually let a person go after carjacking him (the guy supposedly proceeded to call the cops, creating the entire showdown that led to their death/capture)? Could they not find it within themselves to kill that guy after just shooting a cop dead? Seems odd.
I mean, I know it takes some crazy idiots to bomb a marathon in the first place (while also being caught on camera in the same location at the same time the bomb goes off), but the way this all went down is indicative of some real idiocy on their part. We're seemingly not talking about some criminal masterminds here. |

There is too much to me that seems fishy. Same with all the tragedies here lately.

You're right. The dudes on Criminal Minds woulda had this hemmed up in an hour, maybe two....Because this didn't go down just like it does on TV where we know both sides of the story in very short order- specifically the 'how' and 'why' that makes perfect sense to us the whole Godamn thing must be a Gubbamint conspiracy.
Or...maybe it was a pretty dynamic situation the last 4+ days for law enforcement (local up to federal) who had to sift through thousands and thousands of pieces of physical evidence, tips, photographs, video footage etc. while also having to you know...diffuse more bombs, interview hundreds of witnesses, and continue to search the city while ALSO having to step in front of the cameras and answer moronic questions from 24 hour news sources fishing for a sound byte. How much reporting was completely inaccurate the last 72 hours? Shit, news papers posted pics of innocent dudes, and photos/ bios were circulating of people who had ZERO involvement. Did we know the how and why to the Columbine mass murders within 24 hours? How did they get those weapons? Where did they learn to build bombs? How did they hide all that from their parents? How come no one picked up on any of it? Who helped them because someone HAD to have helped dumb H.S. kids... How about, you know, chill out. The cops are overwhelmed right now. Let the Feds do their job and answers will come. |

I didn't say anything about a conspiracy. I'm just saying, based on their apparent multiple irrational actions, it appears we're dealing with two really stupid ****ers.

I think the big brother followed through with the plan and the little brother wussed out. That said, unless we find some kind of letter these guys might have been the worst terrorists ever. If your goal is to terrorize people into submitting to your demands or agenda then it's generally a good idea to make sure people are pretty clear on what that is. Why would they tell that guy they were the bombers but not deliver their message. Strange |

I don't know, the Underwear Bomber may still hold the "Stupidest Terrorist" title. These guys certainly seem Top Five, though.

Or they may have decided they have enough evidence they don't give a crap what this guy says. Miranda rights are ONLY necessary if you intend to use the guy's statements against them in court. If you don't give them, the guy doesn't automatically go free or anything. It ONLY means that whatever he says can't be introduced into evidence against him at trial. If you have, SAY, videotape of the guy dropping off a bag that later explodes AND evidence at where he lived that he had bomb making devices AND evidence on his computer about bombs and planning this AND a carjacking AND a shoout with the police AND a murder of an MIT police officer (that you feel confident can be tied back to him), then you really don't need a freaking confession do you?

These guys were so stupid that they thought they wouldn't show up on a video? Cell phone pic? Thousands of people in one place and your not going to disguise your appearance? Stayed around in Boston for what reason? They are not the sharpest tools in the shed but did they really think that they would get away with this?

It's only a confession that would be thrown out if you are not read your rights. The rest of the evidence would stay to be held against you in a court of law. I think they have enough evidence to not worry about a conviction.
