Being required to root for MU (when not playing KU) as I am married to a fan.. I was yelling this at the TV most of the game. I want to like Haith but he just can't seem to make game time adjustments. The game was really hard to watch

Here's the real issue with Haith:
A basketball coach can be successful in two ways: The first is by mastering X's and O's. The other is by motivating players. Phil Jackson used an archaic system that failed whenever other coaches tried to implement it (Jim Cleamons, for example). He succeeded because he had tremendously talented players, but he was also able to motivate incredibly difficult teammates: Jordan, Rodman, and to a lesser extent, Kobe, Shaq, and Lamar Odom. Rick Carlisle is a great X's and O's coach who has had extensive success because of that. Frank Haith is neither one of those. Truthfully, almost no college coaches are, but he's even less of one. Calipari just tries to out-athlete other teams. Same thing with Roy Williams. That's why they can't win without elite elite talent. Many college HCs, who are incredibly deficient in scheme mastery are at least able to motivate players. That's why last year's team was so good--they motivated themselves via their hatred of Mike Anderson. This year's team lacked that cohesive motivation and Haith couldn't give it to them. And if you can't motivate players or scheme, you shouldn't be a head coach.

If they miss the tournament next year and still lose games like the games they lost this season, you may hear the rumors start. I suspect he'll get fired right before the final year of his deal. This season is going to snowball on him unless Post/JWIII are able to come in and make a difference inside right away. He's burned literally every drop of goodwill he built up last season and is essentially starting at 0 now. I don't think he has the chops to survive.

Benching Bell in his last game as a senior was bullshit. Without Bell, they don't even make the tournament. If I was Bell I'd be uber-pissed.

Normally I'd agree, but Doug McDermott signed a letter of intent with Northern Iowa.

This year's class isn't going anywhere. Be far more concerned about the 2014 class.

LOI releases are granted when the coach changes or if there's a significant event in the individual's life (like a family member getting sick). Post actually hasn't signed a LOT yet (he will in April - missed the early LOI date for JUCOs, I guess. Underachieving rarely affects basketball recruiting. Thus how Scott Drew continually signs amazing recruiting classes despite never doing as much with them as he should. I'd be more worried about Tim Fuller accepting a head coaching job somewhere than anything else. He's a workhorse/dynamo . Missouri has a good chance with a lot of big names in 2014. Landing a few of them will tell us a lot about Haith's future here. Oh, one other thing... Missouri is recruiting 2013 PG Kendall Yancy-Harris pretty heavily still and is in the mix. Tells me the coaches are also pretty sure what I heard yesterday about Pressey being gone is true.

Then again, I had nutrition with Travon Bryant and a number of other athletes, and I can't believe they graduated HS, let alone college.
