I wouldn't assume we'll see that formation reflected in the books. I think that was more along the lines of visual storytelling and a chance to see Jon reborn a second time. I assume the book telling will be different. Plus Ramsay himself's also a different character in the books.
(Just pointing that out in the context of historical references used by grrm - or in this case maybe not used by grrm....) It's hard to tell where he's going in any case. I thought for a while Jon might be a new Night's King, connecting him to an ancestor (Brandon Stark, if Old Nan was to be believed - one way the show has widely diverged from the book...) and that Dany was Azor Ahai, and there we'd get our ice and fire, but now who knows... Hopefully tomorrow night gives us some clues. |

I feel they did a good job of relaying it without bogging it down; Jaime has gone to Riverrun to get the castle back, determined to get back to Cersei and Cersei was served a nice slice of humble pie. She is now refusing to leave the Capital, since her last living child is now under the influence of the High Sparrow, even though she is surrounded by people that hate her.

I am thinking the Lannisters and Freys meeting is the Freys getting very scared now that the Starks have retaken the North and are allied with the Vale. |

The lack of reaction has been unbelievably out t of character for cersei. She didn't want her to go in the first place. She was afraid this would happen. And... nothing. Remember Joffrey's poisoning? This is the same woman? The same family? It's like DnD forgot it even happened with everything else going on. |

Hell, come to think of it, once Dr. bashir got knifed, it's like Dorne itself vanished, too.

Cersei's been a bit distracted. Not much she can do when she's trapped in the red keep and is at the whims of the HS and Tommen. |

D&D saw how horrible anything Dorn was in their TV version of GOT and conveniently forgot that it even existed.

But they ****ed up an already arguably slow part of the story. Not including Darkstar and the way Aero Hotah went out just makes it that much worse.

In any case, it's not really about Cercei - it's just bad writing. They dropped the ball. Initially by killing her in the first place for what had to be shock value and then later by going nowhere with it. Just pointless. But hey, if that's the worst thing I can point to during the season, things are going pretty well... And yes, I think it was worse than everything with Arya. Mainly because I liked everything with Arya. I liked Dorne. At least in the books. Aside from Oberon they've pretty much screwed that all up on the show. I certainly liked it more than anything with Daenerys in Mereen, although maybe Winds of Winter will do the second siege justice. |

I think they were painted into a corner stating that only 13 episodes would be made after this season, so they cut the fat where they thought they should. Of all the storylines currently in progress on the tv show, Dorne was the weak link.
And hey, we don't know what is going to happen in the finale. Cersei might blow up King's Landing and send for Jaime to invade Dorne with the Lannister and Frey armies. Or Dany will show up with her ass kicker horde looking to strike a deal with Dorne. Literally anything can happen. |
