Falcons after Gonzalez

Sorry if re-post, didn't see it anywhere.
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=NFL&id=1331

The Falcons are reportedly interested in trading for Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez.
The National Football Post's Michael Lombardi says the Falcons are "seriously considering" the option, with their second-round pick as bait. Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt is attached to his franchise icon, but he might be convinced to part ways as the team rebuilds.

Atlanta has the 55th pick in the second. Maybe Jarron Gilbert or Paul Kruger although I'd rather see Tony stick it out here.

I've seen Bowe bring down some pretty sweet "glue catches". If he can stand the coming heat, I think he'll be a great receiver in this league.

While that's true, he's had more than his fair share of dropped balls that were clearly catchable.

I've always thought Bowe had really good hands, or am I mistaken??? I know at the very least he has made some amazing TD catches that not many guys could make.

A second round pick...for a guy that can't do any more for this franchise than he already has? A guy that has, at most, three more years at a position that is usually considered a pass catching offensive tackle safety valve at best? A guy that can be re-signed for league minimum to come back to the organization to get his number retired whenever he chooses to do so?

That sounds effing reeruned. We should hold out for their first round pick!

UPDATE

Report: Falcons Still Want Gonzalez

Posted by Mike Florio on April 13, 2009, 10:10 a.m. EDT

Though it remains to be seen whether tight end Tony Gonzalez wants out of Kansas City, one team that tried to get him in 2008 reportedly still wants him.

Michael Lombardi of NFP reports that the Falcons are “seriously interested” in trading for the veteran Pro Bowler, and might be willing to give up their second-round pick in the draft (55th overall) to make it happen.

We see several issues with this one:

1. Do the Chiefs want to trade Gonzalez at all? For now, the answer isn’t clear.

2. Does Gonzalez want out? Again, unclear.

3. If Gonzalez wants out, would he be willing to play for the Falcons? One thing we know is that Gonzalez wanted no part of the Falcons during the 2008 season, when the Falcons made a play for acquiring his services. So has Gonzalez’s position changed?

4. With two former New England colleagues calling the shots in Kansas City and Atlanta, would this be an impediment to getting a deal done, or would it help? Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli was able to strike a deal with Pats coach Bill Belichick for quarterback Matt Cassel, but the second-round pick the Chiefs gave up for Cassel and linebacker Mike Vrabel prompted suspicion that Belichick handed Pioli a sweetheart deal. So would Pioli and/or former Pats director of college scouting Thomas Dimitroff be leery of the aftermath of a trade for Gonzalez, and would they feel the need to drive a harder bargain in order to avoid being criticized?

We’re not saying the trade can’t happen. But several hurdles would have to be overcome in order to make it so.

When I read these I always wonder, especially at the WR position what's wrong with being cocky?
Especially when with this position it seems to be the majority.

He makes the jaw-dropping catch 100% of the time.

And then he drops a softball that hits him in the numbers.

He's a walking paradox.

Didn't he drop a potential game winning td pass in the first game against the Pats. I didn't see it, but isn't he the one that bobbled an onside kick in the Charger game last year that lead to San Diego winning the game? Granted he wasn't the only receiver to drop a ball that would sealed the win for KC in that game. That is two games where, if he would have caught the ball, the Chiefs would have won the game. He's a good receiver but he does have the case of the dropsies from time to time.

If KC traded Gonzo... that would really suck for Cassel.

Time to time?

He was second in the league for dropped passes with 13. Braylon Edwards had 16.

That's awful.
