Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

If Peacock wants an exclusive game give them a mid season shitty matchup similar to what Prime gets for TNF.
Peacock might have gotten more value by having the game shown on NBC and using the 100 million to buy all the advertising spots during the game and promote their service. he whole thing just seems goofy.
They are going to sell the advertising anyway, not to mention the "free" advertising they are getting by the entire sports world talking about it.

Purdue lost last night?
So, between them and Houston, if KU doesn't lose this week then we should be ranked #1?

Bravo for you if you have that kind of control. I have been using the $6 to catch up on the Yellowstone episodes that I missed during the pandemic interruption and caught a couple other shows.
It will get cancelled after the Super Bowl (if the Mrs. lets me)

When this all happened it kicked me into "where am I wasting money" mode.

It was black Wednesday for my streaming subscriptions. Kids will weep when the cycle runs out on a few channels.

We are at the point we have TOO MANY CHOICES. And the sometimes makes the brain not function well. With all the things you want to watch -split up in 20 different services-it is tough to decide what to do.

Then the next problem is data. Xfinity has a cap of 1220 GB a month. That is for all data. If you are a gaming-you can blow through that quickly.

But of course-for more money, you can have unlimited data.

then I am sure there are some people that are not tech savy that may need a better modem or router etc to do what they want. Not a fan of the xfinity modem/router.

It is all a convoluted mess. Somedays, I just want to sit my ass on the couch, not think and watch tv.
Cox does the same. I pay $90 a month for that. But if I go over, they charge an additional $10 per 50GBs.

I think that now that my son moved out a couple of months ago, that shouldn't be a problem for us. Between him and my daughter downloading games, it got close several times and went over a coupld.

And it's the same bullshit as NHL Network grabbing the best games of the week while it's on fewer streaming options than any other sports network. I don't have it on YouTubeTV, so I miss those games and the World Juniors.

Of course, ESPN also has their exclusive games, too, and also pimp Hulu, so you currently need ESPN, ESPN+, Hulu, and then TNT and TBS for the playoffs.

It just makes me less interested in watching games, if I could watch them at all.

It is possible the official stream with Peacock will have some problems. They better have increased their server capacity by a factor of at least 10X. They have never had this many people using their service for one live event.

Yeah, I watched Houston go down (I get ESPN2!!) and then Purdue lost to Nebraska, who actually have a few quality wins now.

I really think this is going to backfire on them.

My friends and I already decided we will try to get a pirate stream, and if that doesn't work we will turn on the radio.

Booze will make up for the lack of visual stimulation.

Yep, Prime averages like 11-14 million for TNF, the first Peacock game had 7 IIRC, and playoff games are usually in the 22-30 range I think.

I hope it melts down and NBC loses hundreds of millions.

I sure hope they are ready for the demand. Gonna be a ton of very pissed off people if this deal crashes.

Same here. I had planned to watch Yellowstone, which we've never seen, but the wife started watching Las Vegas, a 20-year-old series starring James Caan that seems to basically be Baywatch in a casino. It's pretty silly, but not a bad show. So I guess we have to get through that and then watch Yellowstone.

Around a third of U.S. households (36%) don't have a pay TV subscription, and that number is climbing every year. In case you haven't noticed, ESPN is losing their asses and laying people off lately because people are canceling cable and moving to streaming services. It's obviously part of why the NFL is moving in this direction.

Again, this is why I think it's ridiculous that everyone is throwing a fit about a $6 subscription while you happily pay $75+ a month for cable.
