I've been wondering why we Mizzou fans don't have one of these.

Maybe even the school’s first-ever trip to the Final Four.
Nope. Not even thinking about it. Waaaaaay to early.

But it has been an incredible season so far. I can't wait for conference play so we can really see where this team is at.

I absolutely cringed when I read that.

I'm still not willing to give them a tournament berth. I saw that last Snyder team come completely unraveled and miss the tournament after being ranked as high as 3rd in the country at one point (IIRC).

Nope, no way in hell that I'm going to even take the Tourny for granted, let alone consider the possibility of advancing a round.

There are still warts on this team, lots of them in fact. They need to get a handle on the out of control chucking crap. Denmon and English need to learn when to assert themselves a little more if they see the offense going off the rails. English and Moore need to develop into a true 'dynamic duo' of sorts in the front-court so they can both stay out of foul trouble and not get obliterated on the defensive glass.

There is way WAY too much work to be done with these guys to start thinking about tournament games.

You guys are way too good to miss the tournament (not trolling) and I agree that it is nice getting national attention. Too bad it's over a secondary sport that nobody cares about in this case, though.

There is zero chance this team misses the tourney. I was looking at Haith's record at Miami. He averaged 18 wins a season there and only won 12 games his second year. He's 12-0 right now.

Now that I think of it that does sound like KU too.

Mizzou blew a 14 point lead to make it tight in the second half. If Ratliffe gets in foul trouble early, Mizzou can be in big trouble against teams with more height. Big difference last night was fouls and foul shooting. Illinois fouled a lot, and Mizzou hit their shots. Teams with talented tall front likes (Like Baylor) may be a big problem for Mizzou down the road. If the outside shooting goes cold, Mizzou can be in big trouble fast.

But yes, they are fun to watch. They are fast, defend well, pass well, play unselfish ball, just a blast to watch. Looking forward to when conference play starts.

They kinda need a plan C.

Plans A and B appear to be either drive the lane and kick, or pass around the perimeter to find an open 3. Those are both good plans and complement each other quite well.

However, when the shots aren't falling (some days they won't be) and when there are big guys inside willing to stay home, block the passing lanes and force awkward shots (welcome to the blueprint), they need to figure out what they're going to do about it.

Yesterday they just seemed to just go looking for a bigger hammer when that square peg refused to fit. Worse still, when the offense wasn't working, their defensive intensity just collapsed.

There are going to be games where it's tough for them to score like they usually do. I'm hoping they'll learn that Plan C should probably involve turning the defensive intensity WAY up and trying to tire their opponent out on the offensive end to create some easier scoring chances.

Plan C should involve penetrating and kicking it outside instead of shooting off the dribble. Generally, when we penetrate, the pass goes down low to the big who's man helps on D. If teams are going to stay home on defense, Pressey is going to drive into the lane for open layups. If they stay home and play off of our guards in order to prevent them from penetrating, we've got 4 guys who can hit open jumpshots. It plays into our strength.

I don't care if this team takes 30 three-pointers in a game as long as they are the right 30. I just don't want our guards taking pull-up jumpers. You can't defend the lane and 4 perimeter shooters at the same time. They won't let us penetrate? Fine. Just set some screens away from the ball and free up Pressey, Dixon, English, or Denmon for a spot-up 3.

Even if your incessant need for validation causes you to incorrectly assume, why make such a post in this thread?
